I'm not saying he's a top 20 rapper, but as an artist, he's gotta be up there if you look at his entire catalog. All the songs/albums he's produced, his own albums, his guest appearances...it's pretty much all quality. None of Kanye's own albums are bad, and I consider College Dropout and Late Registration classics.

Is Kanye a better rapper than AZ? Not at all. Is he a better artist? Hell yeah

Music past the N64 age definitely isn't as good. Part of the reason games like Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy 6, and Super Mario RPG are in my all time favorite lists are because of absurdly **** music throughout.

You must be playing some crappy games because music in games has gotten significantly better since the nintendo 64. Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Halo, Prince of Persia(2008) are just three examples of series'/games with amazing music.

I'll take young Mike over bleached Mike any day of the week. There are very few Michael Jackson songs I can stand once he got over and started screaming more but I enjoy just about every song he did before he started getting all the plastic surgery.

I honestly play VERY few games anymore. I haven't played any of those you listed besides Halo. (And keeping with the "disagreements" aspect, I think the Halo series isn't anything special at all)

Some of those classic games rival the best scored movies though. I don't doubt a game with the depth of an Assassin's Creed wouldn't have a good track.

Man you really need to play newer games or listen to the old game soundtracks again because old game soundtracks don't come close to movie scores. Most AAA games are the ones with soundtracks that can rival movie scores. Also, I don't like the Halo series but their soundtracks are great.

Another random thought to fit this thread that came to mind...

I think the mark of a great song is if you can listen to just the instrumental of the song and it's still enjoyable. If the song still sounds awesome sans vocals, you have yourself a great song. If the song is dry, boring, and redundant, unless it's meant to be 90% vocalist (Which is fine for certain types of songs) it stands out as being a mediocre to average song.

Check out FF6's music sometime, seriously it's REALLY good stuff. Great game, too, and I generally don't favor that type of game or the Final Fantasy games in general.

As for the second statement, I liked MJ between the 78-82 years when he had a more conventional R&B style to him.
