Originally posted by SportsmanTOI happen to like smooth jazz. it's not as bad as you make it out to be. Anyways you are quite right about the dirth of talent in regards to true jazz music. I just hope it doesn't totally die off in the next 40 yrs.
In a nutshell, it sucks.
Seriously, listen to Charlie Parker and Miles Davis and then listen to Dave Koz and Chris Botti and identify the true talent and genius.
Hey, honestly, I'm glad you like it. At least you're listening to a form of jazz, which is a good thing!
Take care,

Hip Hop (real hip hop) is the greatest form of music.
2Pac is extremely overrated.
Jay was and still is 100% correct when he said, "Who's the best MC? Biggie Jay-Z and Nas".
112 is the best RnB group out.
Royce Da 5'9" has the potential to be top 5 dead or alive.
Ja Rule, Justin Timberlake and Sisqo make good music.
Ray J > Brandy.
Mobb Deep is the greatest group that noone talks about (check their catalouge).
College Dropout is a 5 mic classic (this will be popular opinion in ten years).
Even though noone still buys his music and he fell off after like his second album, you can't have hip-hop without Snoop Dogg.
G-Unit is unpopular simply because its cool to hate them.
Common is popular simply because its cool to like him.
Nas is the greatest of all time.Comment

Originally posted by Hootiefish99% of popular rap/hip hop music is about the same crap:
1) how one mc has more bling than any one else
2) how they are the greatest mc alive
3) how they are going to drink and get laid
4) how they are going to bust a cap in someone 'cause they was dissed
Seriously people, can we get a little more creative about our subject matter please?Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Originally posted by SportsmanTOI dunno, you should give Everette Harp a listen. He did a very good cover version of the WHAT'S GOING ON ALBUM in a smooth jazz vein.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Metallica is overrated.
Soundgarden is the best pioneering band in grunge.
Mother Love Bone was better than Nirvana.
Jack White is a top20 guitarist.
Kim Thayil, Stone Gossard, and Tom Morello are INSANELY underrated.
"Democratic bands" are better than "Republican bands."
And I've yet to hear a rock song that talks about going to kill/"bust a cap" on the lead singer for such and such band and vice versa.
Haven't run into any rock songs dealing with how they are the greatest of all time, nor how much more "bling" they have over the next band.

Re: Your opinions in Music that many would disagree with
-It doesn't matter how much they are praised, the Beatles are still UNDERrated
-The Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" is a better album than any of the Beatles albums
-Rap, while enjoyable, artistic and valuable(I enjoy it myself), is a lesser art form than Rock, Blues, Jazz, etc. BECAUSE it values only lyrical skill and not the combination of lyrical skill and dynamic instrument interplay(like rock) or high level instrumental improv (like Jazz)
-When all is said and done, Radiohead will be mentioned in the same breath as The Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin and other rock greats
-Van Halen was a great band musically, IN SPITE of the musical abilities of their various lead singers
-The Who are good, but not an all-time great
-Sly and the Family Stone deserve much more recognition then they get, and are WAY underrated
-Pearl Jam is the best band to come out of Seattle
-Dave Matthews Band are the WORST thing to happen to modern music, and no one will talk about them in 20 years, other then to mention sales numbers, as opposed to artistic merit
-Classical Music is enjoyable, not tedious or pretentious
-While computes and advanced technology can be used deftly and effectively, on a mass scale it is RUINING music as a whole
-Stewart Copland(The Police) is the best drummer of all-time
-Prince is a top-10 solo artist and guitarist/bassistI drive a 2005 Toyota Prius Gas/Electric Hybrid. My last tank was 53.6 miles/gallon. Gas prices fear me!
