I agree. Same thing with that Tupac guy and the big, fat rapper guy…what the hell was his name…Notorious F-A-T or something like that. Croaking was the best thing for their popularity too. As a matter of fact, I did not hear of either one of them until they made the news with their early departure from earth.

It's gonna suck when Bob Dillon dies. He will start getting a TON of publicity, falsely claiming that he actually had talent to begin with too!

So are rappers. Let me ask you a question. In your opinion, does it take more talent to sing, or talent to rap?

I wasn't doing a singers vs. rappers bit. I like both. I was responding to what I took as you saying singing was better then rapping. I feel they're the same. I couldn't say who is better, my favorite "rapper"(Jay-Z), or my favorite "singer"(Marvin Gaye).

True. This is also why some people make their career WRITING songs for people who CAN sing. Not every singer must be a writer too in order to be respected.

IMO they do. I lose respect for someone who isn't singing their own songs because they're not really expressing themselves. It's much easier to just go to a studio, sing 13 songs and put out a CD then to actually write 13 songs.

I guess I am not understanding what your point is with this one. Are you saying that it is a NEGATIVE that someone relies on their talented voice to make a song great? Please explain.

To me, yes. When I listen to music the first thing I look for is how good the music is. Then I'll listen to whoever is singing and whatever it is they're saying. The reason Marvin Gaye is my favorite singer is because he had a lot of great music behind him. I would never listen to him a cappella. I need music.
