Thanks man. And I pretty much agree with everything you stated. I don't have a 360 and I've never played it. I chose to wait it out and I'm glad I did. So you know I'm itching.
The price is not an issue for me as I don't plan on buying so many games. And no one should 360 or PS3. The prices SHOULD make gamers more picky as far as games they purchase. Gone are the days of buying, trying it out, returning/exchanging it because you'll more than likely come out with a loss.

It is what it is. People will believe whatever they choose to believe. The hardware and software should/will speak for itself.Comment

Kind of ironic IMO.
All I've ever heard on this board is that "we don't want a computer, we just want a gaming console. we don't want something to play movies. we want something that plays games. we don't want the extra stuff to jack up the price. we don't want new technology forced upon us."
That's cool and all. But to each his own.Comment

I'm just saying Sony is saying the PS3 IS a PC yet critisized the XBOX for being a PC.Joshua:

Sorry if posted before........
Looks like Blue Ray is goin to be an issue..........
Optical disc drive (ODD) makers such as Lite-On IT and BenQ recently expressed concerns that a tight supply of key component laser diodes may affect the release of Blu-ray Disc burners, according to the Chinese-language Commercial Times.
Launch of Blu-ray Disc burners may be delayed due to tight laser diode supplyComment

PS3 Production Begins?
A report from Taiwan claims Sony's next box is now being built.
July 19, 2006 - Production of Sony's PlayStation 3 has begun, according to a Commercial Times report cited by various news stories today. According to unnamed sources in the area, Taiwanese electronics firm ASUSTeK Computer began manufacturing a first consignment of four million PS3s earlier this month. Monthly shipments will begin with 200,000 units and increase to two million in October.
Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry will soon begin building PS3s as well, according to the report.
Representatives for Sony were unavailable for comment as of this writing.
Sony earlier promised to reach a manufacturing rate of one million PS3s a month by November, and expects to ship six million units by March 2007.Comment

$270 deposit for PS3 pre-orders?
Looking to pre-order a PlayStation 3? Well it may turn out that you'll have to reach into your back pocket and pull out a hefty £150 deposit, if a new allocation scheme is introduced.
In a report published in trade mag MCV, it's revealed that the Sony is currently discussing a £150 deposit scheme with senior retail buyers, in preparation for the massive worldwide launch of the PS3 this November. According to MCV, the scheme is being considering so that allocation is "more fairly managed."
Apparently, it's thought that last year's Xbox 360 'eBay phenomenon' could be one key reason for the deposit scheme, suggesting that the 'powers that be' might want to avoid a similar situation which last year had consumers pre-ordering multiple Xbox 360 consoles and then flogging them on the auction site for massive profits.
I hope they do this. I will definatly get aPS3 on launch day. Once the soccer moms come into the store and hear they need to put down $150 they will turn right around.Last edited by djordan; 07-21-2006, 12:49 PM.AKA DEEJAY8595Comment

Speaking of the high price and a troubling sign for Sony:
http://www.businessweek.com/globalbi...om_top+stories
One troubling sign already indicates that the PS3 might not be quite the hit Sony expects. Game makers are steering development resources away from Sony and toward games for machines from Microsoft (MSFT) and Nintendo, says Hirokazu Hamamura, president of Enterbrain, a game-industry researcher in Tokyo. At its autumn games preview on July 13, for instance, traditional Sony ally Electronic Arts (ERTS) spent far more time showing off innovative Nintendo games than it did titles for the PS3. EA announced six Nintendo Wii launch titles and showed long working demos for two of those. But it offered only a short clip of a car-racing game for PS3. EA says it's still testing the potential of the PS3. "Many developers think the console's initial high price will lead to slow sales and are holding off on creating games for Sony," Hamamura says.Comment
