Be mindful, that yeah the PS3 will be region free, but that doesn't mean that all games will work. Your TV plays a BIG part in making that happen. So if your TV is NTSC & you try to play PAL Games you will have problems getting the game's to run on your TV. This is my understanding. If wrong please post more info on this issue...

Originally posted by greenegtThe problem would occur if you tried to use a PAL PS3 console with a NTSC TV. The games themselves, will work fine.Comment

Originally posted by cjonesfan921THat shouldn't be a problem though if it was Region free. I don't know much about this but whats the difference between a Pal and a NTSC console besides the fact that they have to play Pal and NTSC games. Is their a reason for that?
As far as NTSC vs PAL, I'm not well versed on the technical differences, but they are different standards. That's why you need run a PAL system on a PAL TV. Same with NTSC electronics.XBL: Mean Greene

Not to be a wet blanket, but apparently the "Region Free" comment comes with the caveat that it is up to the publishers discretion as to if he would allow each disc to be playable region free.<o></o>

$100 can't even buy me and my wife a nice dinner and entertainment for an evening. I'd pay $100 for a game I get 100 or more hours of pure enjoyment out of.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Even more intriguing, he alluded to the possibility that users creating content on the PC side with the Unreal Engine might be able to bring their invented levels and mods over to the PS3..
That's why I was excited about Linux. Not the fact that it is "Linux" (it could be Windows, still wouldn't matter), but the fact that you can use this thing as a computer now.
Still 9 months away though, let's see where they go with this.Xbox 360 GamertagRAW 910

Seeing as the 360 is partially region free, leaving it up to the publishers and with some of the US and UK games being region free.... anyone think Sony's announcement tonight about the PS3 being fully region free may push more and more 360 publishers to make their games region free?Comment

Those are some cool pics.
Revenue from packaged mods? I never heard of that one, coming from a sports PC player. I've never paid for mods.
In-game advertising? It's like watching a movie, hopefully, you can button click over that.Comment

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
Now I have a problem. I knew this might happen but I am intrigued by all of those games. I know this has happened with some of the 360 owners, but I fear that with all those games looking that good that I will fork over $60 for most of them. I hoping that some of these games suck so that won't be the case, lol. ANyway great pics.Comment

Something new to think about. And how about when people makes mods on NBA Live? We should be able to use those too.
