One has to wonder if this marketing ploy will work.

Cheaper than a blue-ray player with HD, but more expensive than a gaming system.

Sharples claimed that Fornay was explaining that with both Blu-ray and high-definition functionality, the PS3 would be "cheap" relative to other products that have these features but more expensive when compared to other "current" game consoles which retail at "far below €500."
Sharples stated that any reports that suggest Fornway was providing a specific price point or price range for the PS3 were completely "incorrect."

Yeah doesn't it still mean that it'll cost more than 500 Euros though?

think of it like this

camp outside of a best buy or walmart at least 1 day before the giveaway

tell 2 friends that all they have to do is sit in a tent for a few hours and they get free drinks and youll pay them 50 bucks


at midnight you get 3 systems at $600.

lets say you can sell 2 on ebay for $1000 a piece

That would be $600+$600+$600+$50+$50-$1000-$1000 = 5 cases of beer and a free ps3

Wow, their is my problem that just seems like a lot of work! lol. I was thinking which always is a bad thing for me. But even if it cost around 600 or more. It still would be worth it to me. Especially if it has Blue-ray technolgoly. Just my opinion!

I think you are kidding yourselves if you think price will be even revealed at E3. Isn't TGS in September? That's when you'll hear price.

If they wait till TGS, that may hurt them w/ the 360 out. If Nintendo announces a price for Rev at E3 and SONY waits they might be screwing themselves.

I think waiting is the only thing they can do.

If nobody knows "for sure" that it's more than $399 (which I imagine it most undoubtedly will be) then they can continue to string along the hold outs.

I say we'll hear a price in September at the earliest.

E3 is going to be just another posturing/marketing event for sony. No need for the gritty details as to how we can afford all of that goodness in one box.

I hope for Sony's sake they release a price at E3. As it is they are taking a massive PR hit with regards to the PS3. Gamers are getting more and more restless. The last thing Sony needs to do at this point is hand them over to Microsoft. Keep in mind Sony is the market leader and it there's to lose.

I said it before Microsoft is just going about their business like it's another competitor. They have been in this postion before. Sony is doing things out of character which isn't surprising seeing that it's MS they are now going up against.

A few months ago I just bought a hdtv, but it only has DVI. So does this mean I can't hook up the Ps3 to this tv? I don't understand the whole HMDI thing with the Ps3.

Don't worry you could still take advantage of an HDMI Connection. You will have to purchase an HDMI-2-DVI adapter.

A $249 360 core system or a $500+ PS3 for little johnny at christmas. The writing is on the wall, Sony got way too confident in its PS2 market share, a now it may run the entire company into the ground.

I disagree, look at japan. Nobody is feeling the 360, and the PS3 will sell like mad there IMO when it debuts.

I still think he will have souund issues. DVI does not carry audio, so I'm not sure if this will work, if it does great.

One game that would temp me to buy the PS3 is MLB the Show assuming that it is great. No other game for the PS3 interests me at all. It will be interesting to see how good MLB is on the PS3 next year.

I am actually looking forward to the WWE Smackdown vs Raw series making its way onto the PS3. Crossing fingers that its a launch title.
