Go into your character page and look at your MAJOR skills. Not minors or anything else, only majors. You have to level those up 10 times to "level up". It will give you a "you should rest and meditate on what you have learned" message when you level up a major skill for the 10th time (remember minors don't count at all). Rest, and when you wake it will let you upgrade stats.

I just figured out I could drag corpses around, so now I'm making cadaver art in Anvil. Sweeeeet.

You should start a "dynasty" page for your character! It is very entertaining to read your exploits. I, too, have started an assassin character, but the guards piss me off. They are all over me anytime I do anything wrong.

Question. If you are out in the middle of nowhere and murder a person with nobody around, will there be a bounty on you?

Nope. The only time you incur bounty is if you kill somebody or do something really evil in front of witnesses. If it's a single person, you can kill them out in the woods and do despicable things to them without fear of bounty being applied to your head.

My problem is I just don't care, and I'll do whatever I want to anybody I come across, and then kill the guards when they come running too. That tends to add up quickly, and I can't go anywhere without wading through a guard here and there.

How in the world can you kill so many guards? Your character must be great at fighting.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Or when you try to do the right thing by bringing a Thief/Murderer to justice in the form of a very large warhammer, but still get arrested for it.

I can't wait to find that inn again. I think it was actually in Anvil, or on one of the inns on the way there. The guy was dressed all in red if you find him.

Block and counter, and learn to love it. You also run faster with a weapon sheathed, and my acrobatics is so high now that I can practically leap OVER their sword swings. I usually resemble a Mexican jumping bean in combat, but most of the swings I parry or leap over, and then counter with a double slash. I also now have a side-move that disarms them, and they generally don't do much to me without their weapons.

Combat for me: Stealth, crit shot first guard, flip to blade and shield, block and finish him off by strafing or jumping over him, hitting him as he's turning, etc. Turn my attention to the second guard, sheathe my weapons, run away to put some distance....pull out bow, stick an arrow or two in him, switch to blade/shield, repeat. Guards are pretty stupid grunts, they just come charging right at you so you can pretty much mow them down.

I'm also talking about the "city" guards, the guys in chain mail. The big mounted dudes in plate still scare me so I generally just haul *** when they come for me.

Anyone know where I can find five empty grand soul gems so that I can stop being a vampire?

Edit - Nevermind... the sun burned me to death. Load save...

Imperial, Thief, Custom Class I created to maximize the skills I wanted to use...appropriately enough, it's "Annihilator".

I also have a Wood Elf and Dark Elf that I tinker around with.

I DID kind of screw the pooch on the skill selection though, so I'm thinking of restarting tonight and doing an "Exploits of a Serial Killer" type Dynasty thread, I think somebody mentioned that earlier. That might be entertaining...

I decided to make a magical thief type. Instead of security I took Alteration. The plan was to just use spells to open all the locks, walk on water, etc. Problem is you can only learn the open spells commensurate with your level, and since my Alteration is apprentice, anything above "easy" I can't even touch. Useless even attempting.

I'm going to go back and use traditional security.

Well it's official. Oblivion has now become the most expensive game in history.

$50 for the game, $500 for PC upgrades. I'll post some before and after screenshots when I get it set up but basically I'm upgrading from:

                            AMD 1700, 512MB RAM, Geforce 5900
                            to:
                            AMD 3500, 1GB RAM, Geforce 7900GT
