Hard to gauge. Main quest is a good 20 to 30 hours maybe? but the rest of the game will take hundred's of hours if you are so inclined to take that amount of time. You don't have to even partake in the main quest if you don't want to.

As far as never playing an RPG before, that's tricky. If you suffer from getting bored over slow games, then maybe it's not for you. As many have said, the amount of freedom comes at the cost of feeling overwhelmed and with no direction. Terry and others make a good comparison with oblivion to GTA, however, GTA is much faster and more actioned packed. You will never know unless you pick it up though

My wife is hating this site... I dont know what to do... risk the wrath of the wife or give in to Oblivion needs?

"Not wonderment," he said when asked if he was surprising even himself with his hot hand in Virginia's 108-87 victory against Gonzaga on Wednesday night, when he scored a career-best 37 points. "I was just wondering why they didn't play more `D.

Thank you. I'm going to complete the quest, retrieve my reward, sweet talk him into telling me where his savings are, and then kill him for putting me through all this trouble. This game is awesome.

Won't you be immediately arrested, jailed and lose some of your stat points though? Or do you have enough money to pay of the guards?

I'm not a RPG fan and I've hav'nt played or bought a RPG game since Zelda on the N64. I must say that I love this game . In the past two day I've played about 10 hours already. At one point yesterday I played it for 5 hours straight. I can't remember the last time I spent that much time on one game for that long at one time. If you own a 360 u must get this game, it's just that good.

The hours just fly by when playing. I spent about 2.5 hours just wandering around Cheydinhal, which is the only city I've visited, so far. I got worked in the "painter's" quest, but no problem. I'll just go back to that when I feel I'm ready. Finally, after about 5 total hours playing, I think I'll go ahead and complete the first assignment in the main quest. I have to finish clearing out the ruins near the Imperial City, on the way. Maybe I'll stop in city and do some snooping around. Ahhh, the freedom. Love this game.

I'm married with an infant son. The only problem I have is the wife nagging me about playing Oblivion. Not because I'm not paying attention to her, but because SHE wan't to play too!

I have a question, what system (PC or 360) are you guys playing this on ??

Is there an advantage (other than price) to buying the PC version vs 360 ?? Does the 360 have all of the same content/gameplay ??

Just curious, before I pick this up tonight.

                      Thanks guys !!

Do you HAVE to join a guild, or is it just a way to extend the game? Also, any tips on lockpicking would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much!!!!!

They're the same content and gameplay wise. Obviously the PC version will be expanded mods, some of which are already coming out. I will warn you though, it takes a beast of a computer to run it. Anything less than a Geforce 6800 and you'd probably be better off with the XBox version.

My wife kicked me to the PC last night so she could play it on the 360. Kind of cool, we both started characters at the exact same time but her experience was worlds different than mine. I had taken contracts on Pirate Captains, met with Vampire Lords, found the unicorn, vanquished minotaurs, and become a Slayer in the Dark Brotherhood....

...while she ran around picking flowers and mixing potions. I think I got the better end of that deal hehe.

Naw, you dont have to join the guilds but they are a way of extending the game. Plus you can get a free bed and free equipment and weapons from any of the guilds you join.
