Thanks for the help. Maybe I will pick this up this afternoon. Anyone know if BB will price match CompUSA's price if there isnt one within 60 miles?

Magic is not necessary, but I guarantee you'll experiment with it a little bit as you become more and more acclimated to the game. I too prefer the combat style system as opposed to magic, but it's pretty cool what kind of magic you can do.

What's great is that you decide what you want to use and when.

How do I use the lockpick? I can auto-pick but would rather do it myself and not waste picks...

Yep, they will. I printed out the ad on COMPUSAs website and took it in. They matched it.

Just press up on the analog stick and quckly press A to lock the thingymajig in place. The harder locks in this game are freaking hard. I broke 10 staight lockpics tryna open a hard lock. I should of picked alteration for locks and called it a day.

Theres a latch you can open in the floor to get to the basement.

I'm gonna be pissed if the rating sites don't give this game a perfect 10.

My character doesnt really use magic at all. The only thing I use is a Shield power that all Nords have, but you certainly don't have to use it.

I haven't really found a need for magic either but it's really useful. I use restoration a lot and use the flame, ice, and shock attacks because they tend to really mess up hack and slash opponents.

Note - I don't think you can hurt some of the ghost-like opponents without using magical attacks. At least not with the standard fare of steel swords or axes.

The Oblivion plane is pretty depressing and ominous, that's for sure. Although, come to think of it, every place I've visited looks that way when I leave...bodies littering the streets, blood flowing like rivers. Hmmm....maybe this is like KOTOR. I'm not chasing the bad guy, I AM the bad guy.

I never bother with the poison. They can't do much when an arrow goes straight through their tongue, epiglottis, and their vertebrae. I have pulled more arrows out of people's mouths in one day than I can count. It's amazing how easily the NPC's are killed when you shove a steel arrow through their face.

Which is another great thing about Oblivion in comparison to Morrowind. You can actually recover the arrows from bodies or even just laying on the ground when you miss. Nothing beats seeing an enemy running at you with a few well placed arrows sticking out of him.
