Not true for me, Loved Oblivion, thought Fallout3 was to bland and greyish.....

Just the environment, I loved the lush environment in Oblivion. In Fallout I just didnt like it. After building after building I couldnt stand it anymore.

I am not saying Fallout was a bad game because that is far from the truth. It was an very immerse game, just didnt appeal to me.

I disagree. From the people Ive talked to. You either like Oblivion or you like Fallout. Some people liked both but it seems, at least with my friends, you either liked one or the other.

I have one friend who loved fallout but no Oblivion. I think If I really showed him the game he would come around...but i dont really care.

On the whole Oblivion/Fallout thing... Both are good, but IMO Oblivion is great. Fallout is just missing something to me. It's just toooooo empty, which to me develops into being boring.

I like both, the thing is that Oblivion's medieval, magical approach interests me more than Fallout's post apocalyptic, desert punk theme. I'm more attracted to Lord of the Rings than I am Mad Max.

I spent my fair share of time in both worlds but far far more in Oblivion. They both play really similarly to me, it's simply the theme that separates them for me.

I can see myself playing this game off and on til the next one is released, and it hasn't even been announced yet.

What are the best mods for Oblivion?

Get FCOM, follow the instructions carefully and go from there. It's seriously a whole new game.

There's a mod called Myths and Legends I'd check out as well. It puts a bunch of cool weapons in the game that you have to go find them. You buy books at different bookstores that contain stories of various myths and legends (who knew?) with hints on where to find the artifacts connected to them. Really fun, and really satisfying to have the cool items.

The Archaeology guild introduces a new faction. There's a new quest line with recorded voice acting and very cool new (and tough!) enemies with satisfying items to get.

Thanks, Trob! Plenty of info concerning mods there. I like the one that has you look for the books and the items that the books lead you to. Here are some other things that I am looking for:

1. Cloaks - like in the LOTR
2. The leveling fix - (where monsters don't level with you)
3. Great items.

Capes and Cloaks is what you're looking for, it's on the list.

There are a LOT of item additions from various mods. My favorites are Myths and Legends and That's so Nico. You'll have to find Nico's too, but unless you cheat and read the locations in the readme like I did, you'll pretty much just be stumbling upon them. Both require pretty strong characters to get to.

FCOM combines the best overhaul mods and rebalances the game. Just make sure to read the instructions carefully when installing.

In addition to TRob's massive mod list (as he has most all the good ones), if you have the massive machine that can run it, search out Unique Landscapes. It pretty much redoes entire areas of overworld to more closely resemble stuff they're supposed to, for example, modifying the swamp south of Skingrad, or the snow-capped mountains near Bruuma.Its great if you can run it, and they're always adding new areas. I stopped playing long ago because my PC's suck now and i'd rather not play the console version when i can play a modded one.

Fallout's starting to gather a lot of good mods too actually. I was looking around about it the other day.
