I know people are going to hate me or bash me for this but I bought this game a few months ago and played it for a few days, tried my best to get into but just couldn't.

Therefore I nominate this for the most overrated xbox 360 game of all-time. The game just isn't fun to me. Others may disagree but I don't see what's so great about Oblivion. Yeah the world might be big and all but whoop-thee doo so is GTA 4, RDR, Saints Row, Fallout 3 and many other games out there.

Just because you do not like a game does not make it overrated. I did not like Dragon Age but that does not make it overrated. Oblivion is probably in the top 3 for best games this Generation.

Heh, the above post reminds me when this came out I called this game "The RPG for guys who don't like RPGs". Some guy later bought the game and said that wasn't true because he didn't like it.

I like both, the thing is that Oblivion's medieval, magical approach interests me more than Fallout's post apocalyptic, desert punk theme. I'm more attracted to Lord of the Rings than I am Mad Max.

I spent my fair share of time in both worlds but far far more in Oblivion. They both play really similarly to me, it's simply the theme that separates them for me.

I can see myself playing this game off and on til the next one is released, and it hasn't even been announced yet.



Get FCOM, follow the instructions carefully and go from there. It's seriously a whole new game.

There's a mod called Myths and Legends I'd check out as well. It puts a bunch of cool weapons in the game that you have to go find them. You buy books at different bookstores that contain stories of various myths and legends (who knew?) with hints on where to find the artifacts connected to them. Really fun, and really satisfying to have the cool items.

The Archaeology guild introduces a new faction. There's a new quest line with recorded voice acting and very cool new (and tough!) enemies with satisfying items to get.

It's a bit of the pain to get it all working together if you choose to go that route. There are a lot of compatibility notes and patches along the way. I don't even mind anymore though because it's so worth it when you do get everything playing together nicely. It's almost become part of playing the game itself, getting all those mods to coexist.

Hey, Trobinson...

I didn't see the USIP_MOBS_1.4 on your list, which is listed in the FCOM setup for Shivering Isles. Do you run into any issues with that? I ask because the USIP_MOBS file on TESnexus is corrupt and I can't find a clean one anywhere. I'm about to move on without it, but was wondering if there may be any issues down the road.

Think I'm going to have to try a clean install of Oblivion since a texture is missing with OOO causing me to see NPCs as a yellow block.
