Report: Elder Scrolls V a Sequel to Oblivion

According to a new report from Eurogamer Denmark, Bethesda Softworks is currently developing a fifth title in the Elder Scrolls series and that the game will be a direct sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, released in 2006

An unnamed source confirmed "with official game documents in hand" that a new title is indeed coming and the voice acting for the characters is being recording in the coming weeks.

When asked for comment on the report, a Bethesda spokesperson said the company does not comment on rumor or speculation.

In an interview with IGN at Quakecon in August, Bethesda Game Director Todd Howard confirmed the developer's new, and still unannounced, title would not be using id Software's Rage engine, id Tech 5. Instead, Bethesda has created an entirely new game engine.

Bethesda also recently filed a trademark for an Oblivion movie.

Re: Official Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Discussion

Quick question for the mod users: does anyone have a good, trouble-free, set of mods that someone like me who's new to modding Oblivion can use? I downloaded and installed a few from the all-time best list from tesnexus, but must have done something wrong as now the game won't load.

            What I installed was:

            Official 1.2 patch
            Unofficial Oblivion Patch
            Oblivion Mod Manager
            Midas Magic/Spells
            Deadly Reflex
            and a few others

Is there a particular order that these should be installed? Are there other mods that I should be getting instead? I'm just looking to refresh my OB experience since my interest in the game has rekindled.

I know for Deadly Reflex you will need OBSE at least. Do you have that installed?

Nope. I'll put this in when I get home. Thanks! Any other mod suggestions?

I was going to say use BOSS to keep the load order right, but I think OBMM has that same functionality.

My mod list is posted a few pages back or so. I know you only want a few mods but there are some really good ones in there.

It depends what you want on what mods you should use.

They're just about all trouble free though since you've got the mod manager. It installs and activates everything for you.

I'm pretty sure you need BOSS to auto sort the correct load order. I think OBMM puts newer mods last (by date, meaning newer versions of older mods might get put out of order).

I agree though, if you follow instructions carefully, it's worth it to use some of the more involved mods...especially when you're just starting out or starting over...if you mess up, there's not much to lose except time, really.

Re: Official Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Discussion

Finally got the game (3 years late I know :P) and I had 1 question before I get out of the cave

In the instruction booklet they give different boosts for each races:

I chose Breton, which give me boosts in Alchemy, and all the magic stuff.

Then I read at the end I chose a class with a specalty and major attributes to chose to boost some attributes.

Do those add up to the ones that comes with the race I chose?

By example, If I decide to custom hand pick specialty and major attributes and pick the same ones that come with the race, will I get twice the attribute boost?

                        Thanks for helping,

                        Js

I apologize if it has already been asked I did not want to scroll through all the pages as I want to play it without any guides/help/spoilers.

I have to bump this up.... this game will steal all of your time. If you still play, post some of your favorite mods. I've looked through the Top 100 Mods on tesnexus... some great ones. The mods really enhance the playability and longevity of the game.

I've been wanting to get back into it, but I just can't seem to get the mods working right. I really don't understand installing mods anyways, as i've always been a console gamer, and just recently started dabbling in PC games.

Tried to download one of the overhaul mods and it was all messed up. And i'm not really sure what the mod manager is supposed to do either.

I think I'm going to do one more play through once I get done with Fable 3. I think I'm going to go with an archer this time as that is the only type of character I haven't been.
