If Rugby 06 shows up anytime soon on the 360 BC list, I'm sold. Seriously! It's become the best sports console videogame I've ever played in my life.

Nintendo clearly is kow-towing to the multimedia capabilities of the 360 and PS3 with the decision to add that crap to the console. And all along, I thought the Big N's mantra was, "It's about the games and gameplay," and I see this sh*t added that does nothing but inflate the price.

Color me disappointed the more I read about this thing. Now I'm really confused about my future gaming direction, considering I don't want to spend a ton of jack and am console monogamous.

PK, the only system this next generation that has been geared towards videogames first has been the XBOX 360. Wii and PS3 are trying to do all kinds of crazy things to their consoles to bring in multimedia as a focus. This is starting to really get annoying if gaming by certain companies is heading in that direction. Look at SONY, their forcing people to buy a system with the BluRay player even though some may never use it. SONY is using the PS3 as a tool in the HD multimedia battle against HD-DVD, because when they sell 1 Million PS3 by the end of the year or early next year, they can turn around and say that they have 1 or 2 million BluRay players out in people's homes. This is the crap propoganda that their going to use.

With Nintendo, I thought they were going the other direction of providing us with an alternative gaming experience. Except they are providing us with an overpriced XBOX1 + a gimicky controller to hide the less powerful system. It even concerns me that in the Q&A, they could answer if games were going to be 16:9 and 480p at the least. Come on, the XBOX1 which was released in 2001 had those features in almost every single game as it was mandatory. Nintendo I bet doesn't make it mandatory which it is really sounding to me.

MS is giving you the choice to get the HD-DVD add on, but it's not necessary. Granted the 360 is $400 for the premi, but you won't regret purchasing the console. Slowly but surely, I'm starting to place the 360 on the same pedistal that the Dreamcast and XBOX1 are in my book. Both the DC and XBOX1 died premature deaths, but one was due to the lack of support + billions of dollars lost and the other was due to the next gen era looming around the corner at the time.

My vote for this generation goes to MS and the 360.

I'm starting to line up in that school of thinking, too, Candyman. I've been quite happy with my Xbox since 2002, so I guess it makes sense to stay in the family.

I don't need all of the extra multimedia sh*t on the 360 and PS3, but I do like my console to also play DVD's. That's the only Swiss Army knife feature I need and like, at least from what I can see.

Look at it this way, you sat back and watched all 3 companies unveil their weapons. Now you know what each one has to offer, and buy staying in the family, you'll reap more benefits.

Even the Multimedia on the 360 is not nowhere near overboard like what the other 2 systems have presented. I think the biggest thing that has been hyped and is well worth it is the LIVE Marketplace. I think MS went into this next gen thinking that consumers want games, they don't want to primarily stream music + movies on the 360, view their photos, have the 360 cook dinner for them, and what not. We are gamers, and many of us grew up play Atari and Pong. We want gaming machines. If I want a multimedia center, that's why I have a PC period.

I'll still get a Wii eventually, but at $250, I would much rather them throw in an 2nd Wiimote and nunchuck attachment than Wii Sports.

It's hilarious to me the amount of people who own the DS complaining about the price of the Wii, because the concept of it is exactly the same. If you want similar games to say Pheonix Wright or Dawn of Sorrow on a console your going to have to get a Wii. I can assure you some of the most prolific games or most critically acclaimed Wii games won't go near the other two systems. Especially the quirky japanese ones since the system is going take that territory over with ease. Bottom line is that it is the only system you won't have to part $500 plus to walk out the store with a game and a extra controller.

But their charging $250 for a system that runs at a bit higher power than the XBOX1. Their not making it mandatory for games to run in 16:9 and 480p, now that is a big feature that will be missing.

Cman is right. Out of all the system it looks like the 360 was geared primarily for gaming. If you want more bells and whistles you can build on the 360 but it's not necessary.

Who would've thought that Microsoft built the 360 primarily as a gaming rig.

@ PK if you do get a 360, The Marketplace is a lot like iTunes, it's crack. Downloading free videos, demos and games is where it's at.

ExtremeGamer made me think of something I missed - I would need to buy a memory card to go with the system. So the Wii becomes a $300 machine. I think it would be a lot of fun but I am no longer certain if I want to pay $300 for it.

Since I've been the main moaner about the price, you can tuck your finger back into your palm if it's pointing at me. I haven't owned a handheld since a GameBoy in 1992.

That is a steal of a deal that will drag me to the Apple dark side very soon, as I'm almost out of space on my 40 GB Creative Zen.

I own a Mac and i've never been a fan of the iPod, lol. IMO they are fragile and overpriced and you can find players out there that do more for the same price or lower. I read about Creative Labs Zen players and they look pretty sweet.

The comparison of the Marketplace to iTunes is all the cool stuff XBL has available much like iTunes. The great thing about the Marketplace is all the free stuff you can get to try. Free demos where you can play the game and get a feel for whether the game is worth spending your hard earned ducketts on.

p.s. I don't think you need an iPod to download music to your computer from iTunes. Once it's on the computer you can transfer it onto any players that use Apples format and everybody pretty much does that since they dominate the industry.

I buy gaming devices(handheld or console) for the games. The Wii looks very promising on that front. I could care less what other system it looks like, but if it has to be brought up I have no problem with a souped up xbox. The best looking xbox games like NGB and DOA:U hold up extremely well.

I have a HDTV, and still see why they aren't supporting it:

                                1. It cuts costs for developers, and assures they don't do work 90% of the audience won't appreciate(see #3).

                                2. It makes sure everyone is on a level playing field. The mainstream audience that Sony got last-gen won't be playing on a HDTV.

                                3. Also keep in mind the 360 has a good amount of games that look like xbox "plus" games on SDTV, the most notables ones I saw are Saints Row, DOA4, NBA 2K6 and PGR3. Nintendo avoids this issue altogether.

                                4. Nintendo has the highest kid audience of all the manufacturers. You can't expect them to have high-end TV's.
