I see, sounds fun! I don't know if I would want to buy another guitar though...

I can't believe I'm enjoying the game as much as I am. That's all I'm thinking about her at work. I can't wait to get home and play it some more.

Honestly don't know, I have never done it. If someone has the PS2 version, I'm sure the codes are on gamefaqs, give it a try and let the board know.

We were playing mulitplayer last night, my wife is pretty good. One thing I love is I can do medium and she can do easy for the co-op. That is a nice touch, glad it remained from the PS2 version.

Just did "Heart Shaped Box" on Hard for the first time and got 4 stars on it. I need to get used to sliding down to reach the orange fret then remembering to slide back up. That screws me up quite a bit but I'm sure I'll get it in time.

Don't worry, you will - this is one of those games where you only get much better at it by playing - a lot.

Also, the practice mode (360 has it too, right?) is invaluable for Hard and expert.

for those of you who have had luck finding an extra guitar...where have you purchased it from???

I can't see to find one in the Pittsburgh area.

Do you guys use your pinky to hit the frets as well or just 3 fingers and move down the guitar?

It will depend, but whenever there are two-chord notes (when separated by one or two frets), I will always use my index and ring fingers, and slide up and down the fretboard when there are other ones, etc.

I tried that and was very unsuccessful.

That's why I'm loving this game - the sense of learning and accomplishment.

I spend quite some time in practice mode, slowly increasing the speed until I get a song. I still suck, but I'm a hell of a lot better than I was on Tuesday when I got the game.

Okay, well I just tried it, and it was just as I described it. Everything is spaced out maybe twice as far apart, and it speeds up to compensate for the doubled distance. I must say, it's much more fun to play this way. On those crammed solos, you can see what's going on more. Although it is much harder to see what's coming up next, I can't see this as an issue for the 360 version with widescreen (it seems as though the actual board is just longer, so notes appear earlier for you guys).

I played 3 songs on Expert: Girlfriend, Sweet Child O' Mine, and Beast and the Harlot. On every song, I got my highest scores ever. So, somehow, it obviously helped me. It's much nicer for me, but I can see where it would be harder for other people. I recommend for people that are transitioning from Medium to Hard to try this, so that way you get used to the speed of Hard.

With regards to finger positioning, my fingering technique is very strange, but it's more like I play a real guitar with...

If I have a Green/Red chord, I'll hook my index finger and hit both buttons with it to "bar" the chord.
If it's Green/Yellow, I'll usually use my index finger and middle finger in a split.
If it's Green/Blue, I'll use index and ring finger.
If it's Green/Orange, I'll reach with either ring finger or pinky depending on how much time I have.

When it starts shifting around...like Yellow/Orange Chords I'll use my middle finger and pinky. For those weird chords on Exper that are like Green/Red/Blue I'll hook with the index finger on grn/red and hit blue with my ring finger. I slide my hand around sometimes if it's getting faster, but for the most part I can use the least finger motion possible for most of the songs.

One little tip for the folks just breaking into Medium -

If you get a Red-Blue chord, start learning how to slide your hand up and hit it with your index-ring just like you would a Green-Yellow. Not only is middle-pinky a hard thing to do (I still miss occasionally with that fingering even now), but it won't help you at all when you start getting into hard.

I learned this the hard way on a song called No One Knows on the original GH. I only wish I had started sliding earlier than that - would've saved me a lot of frustration.
