Re: Halo 3 Impressions
If it's any similar to Halo 2's Team Hardcore it will be Battle Rifle starts with no radar and I believe no dual wieldable weapons on the map. It will probably be very similar to the rules that MLG uses which is where Halo 2's Team Hardcore came from.
When it comes out it will probably be the only playlist I will play. Spawning with a battle rifle makes the game much more balanced and fun to play.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Halo 3 Impressions
I started replaying Halo 3 today in hope of finishing The Fight within the next few weeks. Halo 3 is not too bad of a game, but when comparing this to a COD4..........why couldn't they do something similar with the whole WAR aspect. In COD4 you feel like your a part of the battles, while with part of Halo 3 feels like large battles, there are times it doesn't feel that way. It is a shame that they couldn't pull that piece together, really would have made a difference.
Back to trying to finish the game.Comment

Re: Halo 3 Impressions
I played Halo 3 till about mid October and then stopped due to the onslaught of games that released. Then I played COD4 (awesome SP), now when playing a FPS no matter new or old, comparisons to COD4 are made.

Halo 3 campaign wasn't great but it wasn't bad, it was just about what I expected.Comment

Re: Halo 3 Impressions
True, I guess the game could have felt more epic if they had a war like atmosphere as COD4. Both games shuold be looked differently.Comment

Re: Halo 3 Impressions
I just wish they would of gave more in the story aspect of the game. It really let me down. I also would of like more missions to play with Cortana. Just seemed like they rushed it to me.

1UP: Impressions of the Heroic Pack
Standoff
What Bungie says: "This is a map that takes place in Africa. It is a UNSC missile silo facility. The idea for this...is basically a small vehicle map -- a 'mini Blood Gulch' where the two bases are facing each other and [the distance between them] is condensed, so you get a lot of good infantry action in the middle," said Chris Barrett, creative director of downloadable content at Bungie.
What we say: Ignoring the Forge factor for the new Foundry stage (see below), this is easily the best map of the pack. It has all the good qualities of a Blood Gulch (Halo 1) or Coagulation (Halo 2), without the yawn-ful, drawn-out stalemates due to long-distance objectives (Standoff looks huge, but the actual playing area is very manageable). The bases are made up of tiny rooms and tight, windy corridors, which make them easy to defend -- maybe a little too easy. It's virtual suicide trying to raid an opposing base for flags and such, especially if any defender's wielding a shotgun or Mauler.
We recommend: 8-12 players on any match types requiring a symmetrical map like Multiflag CTF and Assault variations.
Notable weapons: To the side of each base, you can find a rocket launcher, and in the middle lies a solo Spartan laser. Standoff has plenty of battle rifles to go around -- but no sniper rifles. "You can imagine on a map that open, a good sniper...could really dominate," says Lars Bakken, multiplayer designer. "There are multiple places where...you can see everything at any given time [except inside the bases].You can scan the entire map and see where basically everyone is. We didn't want...people grabbing a sniper rifle...and dominating the other team; that's not necessarily fun for the other people."
Pay attention to: The giant satellite dishes in the background. They're not part of a flat, 2D backdrop; they actually rotate once in a while.
