well WOW was too hard, LOL...but then i'm no "expert" on these games like many of you seem to be so complaints about difficulty fall upon deaf ears for me here mostly.

Only segments of WoW were too hard or rather the end raids. Sunwell in the Burning Crusade, Nax in Vanilla WoW. I think only 1%, possibly less, ever even saw the inside of these places. So yeah, they dumbed it down. What made WoW hard as well were the logistics of WoW. You had to have 40 players in Vanilla raiding that were willing to meet 4 to 5 days a week in order to make progress on a raid. They scaled raids down to 20, but even gathering 20 competent gamers for 4 or 5 nights is difficult. That in of itself will prevent most people from seeing it, then you add some difficult content and you basically have excluded 99% of your population.

Diablo is somewhat different as you don't have the logistical nightmares that WoW had.

I never cared much for WOW and to be honest I tried like hell to get into it because I wanted it to be my Diablo-like passion. A passion which it seems so many folks have for it but one that I could never muster.

I've also tried many Diablo clones and the only one that I ever much cared for was the Titan Quest game. The others all were pretty poor IMO.

WoW really became good to me when I got into a relatively competent raiding guild. We weren't great, but we saw alot of content that the majority of people never saw. However, it was a huge time sink and will never ever do that again with any MMO regardless of how good it is.

WoW without the raiding guild was good, not great.

Speaking of clans, anyone here at OS got any recommendations for an older (42) gamer like myself or is there an official OS clan perhaps?

Most of my buddies who played Diablo 2 back 12-13 years ago are messing around with silly stuff like married life and kids and all that nonsense and won't be getting the game...

So I did the digital pre-order form Blizz and trying to download the game, but with endless issues.

I have no issue downloading WoW stuff
No issue get the D3 beta

But now with the pre-order the downloader starts off strong then slows speed hand hangs around 80k/sec speed. The downloader runs from 3 mins to 1 hour before it just turns off.
I'm having to restart it all the time, and when i went to lunch i was at 83% done coming back from lunch and starting it up again im down to 54%.

If i turn off P2P it just turns off right when I start it.

I ended going going the Amazon route. I usually prefer digital download but Amazon was still the cheapest and it is guaranteed for delivery on the 15th (may even get it the 14th!) Release date can't come soon enough, my biggest problem is thinking which character to start with. I wish there was a Paladin.

I am having trouble choosing a character as well. Right now it's down between the demon hunter and the wizard.

Just remember, if we Amazon folks do get it early on the 14th it won't do us much good in regards to playing it as no one can play until May 15th at 3:00am eastern time. You can install it earlier than that once you get it I believe but the servers won't open until midnight pacific time for anyone to play.

However I'm still hoping to get mine on the 14th as I got the Collectors Edition and I'd like to use the extra time to watch the DVD and really just admire everything in the box.

Oh yeah, and in the meantime, if you plan to use the auction house with real money then be sure to go ahead and get it setup now instead of waiting. This article explains how both auction houses work, the one that uses real money and the one that uses in-game money:

                            HOW THE AUCTION HOUSE WORKS:

Im building a cpu for this game and was wondering if the build below would run it. I have no clue as to whats better and such so looking at the minimal requirements tells me nothing.
