That's a bad move by Neversoft/Activision. What's the point of limiting this to only 3:00? Dumb.

They loaded the shotgun and blew all of their own toes off with that move. Man. I was going to pick it up just for this feature, but now I'll just wait for Harmonix to get it right. Neversoft just doesn't get it.

I canceled my preorder today. With RB2, no need for this game any longer.

This is what Activision does. They're like the serial killer of gaming franchises.

Reading that the limits are 3 minutes and 1200 notes (can't surpass either).

Kinda sucks, not that I'm getting this anymore anyway (Rock Band 2 = epic).

It only gets worse. Activision is looking into a subscription based downloading service. Seriously...

Not necessarily bad news (I guess it could be), but Activision wants to put out twice as many GH titles in 2009 as they did this year, and thrice as many in 2010:

They're milking this franchise for every last penny, no?

                  *double post, sorry*

If Activision were to seriously up the frequency at which they add downloadable content (up to a point where they match or surpass that of HMX with Rock Band), then I could see this working and being a good deal. However, I don't think they can get there and it will probably be a rip-off. Time will tell.

That is actually a good thing for people who download a lot of tracks

Only if GH releases a lot of tracks. Look at GH3, there have been what, 10 download packs in it's 10 months it's been out? So 3 songs a month?

With how much they charge for song packs you'd need a subscription service if they released alot.

Activision Limits User Song Sharing, Won't Allow Covers

"We'll be actively monitoring the site," Neversoft project director Brian Bright explained to 1up. "We can't condone people putting up covers of music. It's really there for original content." "If there's a licensed song and someone holds the copyright to it, we'll take it down regardless of whether or not someone complains," Activison PR manager Aaron Grant elaborated.

It's one thing to ruin a feature someone else already had...but to ruin your own future is a new level of fail.

I pretty much expected that. I mean, it's just asking for a lawsuit to allow it.
