Actually, I really like that Neversoft added those strum chords... I was always wondering how they could go about something like that... there's the answer.

The only problem is it doesn't exactly replicate real strumming, because instead of strumming the strings, you're putting more fingers on the strings (or buttons in this game). At least the idea makes sense and it's a jump start.

Having become a complete RB convert myself, I still will have a hard time passingon GHWT.
I will be the first to admit that I haven't gotten my money's worth on several of my complete collection of GH purchases -- namely the "GH Rock the 80's" and "GH-Aerosmith." It seems as if the games were sandwiched between other GH or RB releases that I always gravitated back to those.

In a perfect world, I would stick to my RB2 and have access to all songs from every GH game released. I know this is an impossibility.

It will be tough, I'll admit, starting from scratch with a brand new band in GHWT. I'll have to say that I am intrigues with several of the songs -- "Crazy Train" just to name one. Since the instruments from RB1 (that I still use) are compatible with GHWT, it makes it a little easier to stomach paying the $ for essentially more music to play with albeit an inferior interface IMO.

I'm definitely on the fence....while loving RB2 more and more each day.

            Re: Guitar Hero 4

Out of curiousity, I checked out the expert note chart for my favorite song in this game ("Rooftops" by Lostprophets)... it's an easy song to play, both in real life and GH:WT, but you'd think Neversoft could at the very least use the real drum track (the in-game drum track is not the record drum track, and it sounds awful), and note chart the song a bit better (seeing as this was the first song I taught myself to play on a real guitar, I can say for sure that the strumming pattern is very wrong at some parts, particularly the chorus).

Not related, in comparison to Rock Band, the visual style of this game is incredibly cheesy.

I saw the new guitar today at Best Buy on display, it was not bad at all. The construct on the darn thing feels even better than the Les Paul which surprised me and the guitar felt a little bit heavier.

I didn't get a chance to, but the Best Buy on Golf Rd. in Schaumburg has it on display as soon as you walk through the door. I was able to pick it up and mess around with the buttons, etc. Their 360 was screwed up.

Oooh I'll have to go over there. Were they selling them?

How would you compare it to the other GH guitars? Have you played the explorer and could you compare it to that?

They didn't have it on sale, I looked. I owned the Xplorer up to 2 weeks ago when I sold it since I went with the RB2 guitar which I wasn't liking and the damn fret buttons were to clicky. It went back to the store.

I think it has the tight build that the Xplorer has, except it has a bit more weight to it. I wish the 360 was working to try it out to give you better impressions. Even the neck now seems to be in much sturdier. I am not too sure if the guitar snaps at the neck like the Les Paul.

Not that I was ever entertaining the thought of buying the game, but spending a few minutes playing it at BB convinced me beyond a shadow of a doubt that I'm not missing anything. The instruments are nice, but it is the same ol clunky interface as GH3, with the same ol graphics.

It's all about the songs for me. I think RB2 is the better game and I'll play it more, but there are a handful of songs on GHWT that I really want to play so I'll get this game too at some point.

I think I'll end up playing this more. A lot more songs I like even if I count the repeats towards RB and don't count the DLC and a few of the ones I like in GHWT I like better than anything in RB. On top of that I'll never be forced to play anything I don't like since their unlock all songs cheat actually saves and there's no mystery lists or anything like that. The only concern here (from the venue/character select video) is not being able to play whatever I want where ever I want.
