Re: Guitar Hero 4
Maybe I haven't played Rock Band 2 enough but to me...other than song selection...what's the big difference? To me, they seem like clones of one another and like someone else said, I like having a wide selection of songs to choose from. I have GH3, GH Aerosmith, and RB2 and couldn't be happier. I'm sure I'll pick GH: World Tour at some point as well.Comment

Plus, after playing Rock Band, I simply can't play with the cartoony looking graphics of GH.
That, and I hate what Activision did to the series in whoring it out. Everytime you turn around another GH game is released, it's even on cell phones. I mean, cool and all, but where does it stop? They charge double per song what RB does for DLC, and just completely whored out the game.
RB2 is the only music game I even own and will until RB3 hits.Comment

For me, it's the note charts, they are downright terrible in the GH series since Harmonix left.

I just looked at the song list for GH:WT and decided I'm definitely going to get it. There's some damn good songs there. I've always been a pretty big Hendrix fan, and playing some Willie Nelson sounds like fun as well, lol.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 4
I don't notice a difference in the note charts, maybe because I can't go above medium difficulty. As for the graphics, lol, I hardly ever even notice the graphics. I'm too busy looking at the notes I'm supposed to hit.

I'd like to continue about the note charts, but simply put, they made them, plus the timing window, so it's all about how fast you can move your fingers. I liked songs that had a "natural" difficulty to them. I don't consider the song difficult, but look at something like Can't You Hear Me Knockin' on GH2; it has its own little charm to how you gotta play the song, and it doesn't try and make you use three-button chords everywhere just to make it harder, it's just naturally hard. Plus, three-button chords aren't hard, they're just annoying, especially when they don't fit.
And it's been an issue in GH3, but I have to strum at notes earlier than when the audio tells me that I should. I don't know if this is in GH: Aerosmith or if this will be a problem in GH: World Tour, but it was in GH3 and I didn't like it. This is also an intangible dislike for myself, but there's some difference between Harmonix's releases and Neversoft's where I simply don't feel like I'm playing the song the same way I do with the original Guitar Hero games and Rock Bands. Before I was thinking it had to do with the master tracks, and that could still be the case, but I feel like I'm playing the songs when I play Rock Band, so perhaps that's not the case. Either way, it has something to do with their graphical interface that throws me off, not really feeling like I'm playing the song. Something just doesn't feel as rewarding as you hit each note, not sure why, but it affects me in a bad way.
Nevertheless, some songs on GH3 have been my favorite to play ever (notably Even Flow), but like someone said earlier, one song isn't worth $60.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 4
Out of the box, Guitar Hero and Rock Band aren't broken like the large majority of sports games.
There are 19 doubles I believe. That sucks. That sucks bigtime. And whoever is second gets the blame...Guitar Hero. But, for $60, you are getting 65 songs to be played on 4 different instruments.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 4
As for GHWT, there are 20 songs (excluding DLC and songs that are duplicates on RB) that I really want to play. So a $60 game for 20 songs is pretty high, but simply playing the songs is what I care about and I get a lot of use out of it. I'm planning on holding off on GHWT a little while since RB2 just came out for PS3, so hopefully I can get the game only for around $45 or $50 in a few months.
There is no doubt that I think RB is the better game all around. Better atmosphere, better note-charting, better style, etc. But I want the songs on GHWT, so I'm fine with getting it.

Re: Guitar Hero 4
Man those vid's of 3's and 7's say it all. At least they know they screwed up GH3 and have tried to make it better in GH:AS and GH:WT. Part of the problem with the charting is the 3 chord note. While its harder its def not more enjoyable. I think once they introduced it into the series they put it in way to much. Either way I still enjoy the series and I'm really looking fwd to Sunday where I get this and RB2.Comment
