I'm enjoying the Wii version a TON. Good variety in the songs...just a little miffed that the entire Death Magnetic album isn't availble (just 3 songs).
Just for fun, I wanted to see how much I could save of DLC: my Wii still had about 1150 "blocks" left on it, and the 2 GB SD card I threw in (that had a bunch of mp3 files and files I needed for teaching) had 9555 blocks available. Given that songs ran in the 150 block range, I think I'll be okay on the SD card side.
I started a career on guitar on Expert (just got the game only) and have probably played about 20 songs so far. I'm finally ready to purchase the Tool gig (need $8000 to do so), and the Zak Wylde battle is killing me. I've been happy with the songs for the most part, but a couple are serious duds (just repetitive chord strumming): Obstacle 1 (100% first try on Expert, and I don't even know the song) and Beastie Boys was boring until the end. I like the types of songs that have decent note movement and not just in the insane solo sections (i.e. Welcome to the Jungle on GH3). The early gigs have the insanely easy songs...but they've gotten trickier as I've moved through (I think I've done 6 gigs).
My Les Paul is working fine with this, and the purple note sections aren't that bad. I can see where the slider would work a little better to get from green to orange pretty quickly.
I'm happy about the $50 I paid for this game. No regrets. If you have any questions for the Wii version specifically (or GH:WT in general), ask away. Just remember, I bought the game only, and am using my Les Pauls from GH3.
