I guess some of the full band kits are missing the cymbals and knobs for the cymbals. That has to suck.
that post was dead on....my packaging was the same as his.....my red pad and yellow cymbal seem to be faulty......i also agree with his guitar assessment......

The guitar is absolutely awesome so far. I've always had problems with my GH3 guitar not registering the frets occasionally because the connection in the neck doesn't seem that great, but GH:WT's works great so far. I really love the strum bar, and the slider is pretty sweet. I have absolutely no complaints about the guitar, and I love its weightier feel.

Overall I'm fairly impressed with the instruments, but i'm more than a little worried about my drum kit. The red pad and yellow cymbal seem like they may be faulty and I'm afraid they'll end up failing based on what I've been reading of other people having the problem. This is my first post on the GH forums, and I just wanted to post here not only to give my take on the instruments, but to show that there is a real problem with the drums for GH and hopefully things will be ironed out... I'm hoping that I'm lucky and my drums just need to be broken in, but don't be surprised if I'm back in a couple days saying that my game had to go back due to faulty drums.

      Re: Guitar Hero 4

I was able to use the GH4 Drums and Guitar on RB2. The guitar worked great and the drums are okay. The problem is that since GH4 only has 2 toms and RB has 3 when you play a drum roll using 3 toms you have to hit the cymbal. It would have been nice if the drums had 3 cymbals because in GH4 the crash and ride cymbal are mapped to the same cymbal so it doesn't feel like you are playing real drums.

I was able to hook up my real drums to the GH4 drum midi input and it worked okay but the number of drums and mapping do cause some problems. I can map the cymbals and toms to the same note but when I play fills if I hit the cymbal it sounds like a tom but it's not that big of deal.

One other annoying thing about GH4 is that you can't scroll down the menus with the pads you have to use the d-pad.

So the GH4 guitar works good on RB2? I had read some posts that it seemed a little laggy and you really have to calibrated the guitar well on RB2.

Kevin, EG, Jistic, and anyone else that asked:

Ok, I got in about a good 10 songs with the GHWT guitar on Rock Band 2 for the 360. The new guitar works exactly like what the Gibson and Les Paul does with Rock Band 2. When I mean exactly, it is the same right down to the tee. There was no lag for me at all, and I'm not too sure if its due to running this on a DLP. To use the new guitar on Rock Band 2, it will work fine.............but

I still think the Rock Band 2 guitar is better for Rock Band 1 / 2, for the fact that you can use the lower frets at the bottom of the neck for the ending bonus vs. not being able to do that as effectively with the Les Paul or this new GH guitar since you have to use the fret/strum combo. This is where I think that RedOctane made a mistake. They should have also of given the new guitar this functionality through the touch sensitive. This could have been a bigger incentive for those that are unhappy with RB instruments as a replacement. You can still tap on the frets and strum bar to achieve the same effect, but its not the same. My other reasoning too is that the RB2 guitar also allows for a set of 3-4 effects if I can recall. EG can fill us in on that if he still has the guitar, which I think he does.

Yes, the new guitar from GHWT will work with RB2 and it works well, minus not being able to do a few things the RB2 guitar allows for.

                Chase,

I passed on them since I have the Rock Band 2 drums.

I have read a few things at other forums how you really need the drums for the game that you are playing. GHWT drums work on RB2, but some things are whack a bit and vice versa because the way they are setup.

That sucks, I don't want two drums sets laying around the house.

I know, I feel the same. The problem comes with the RB drums having 4 drum pads vs. GHWT having the 3 drum pads and only 2 cumbals.

I'll try the RB2 drums this weekend with GHWT, but I don't have cymbals so I really don't know how it will work.

With the GH drums on RB, would one of the cymbals be used as the 4th pad or what? Does anybody have the WT drums and RB?

From what I was reading, one of the cymbals turns to the drum pad. Since I'm not a musician, I don't know which setup is more true to life as I have seen guys arguing on other forums that one is more realistic than the other. LOL!

That seems like an easier thing to do than walking around two drum sets.

I have the GH drums and RB2. No RB drums. It works great. Yellow cymbal turns into the second pad. When I play RB2 I just take off the 2nd cymbal and it works perfectly.

BTW, loving Death Magnetic on WT! It rocks and sounds better than the real album!
