Lol I know! I don't know what it is exactly, but I just love this friggin game. By the way, just an FYI for you guys, I just checked my latest save and I'm at 11 hrs and 32 min with another dungeon still to go. Looks like this game could clock in around 15 hrs, which is great.

I was reading that you can pull through 29+ hours in a single playthrough if you go to collect everything.

Yah, that doesn't surprise me at all. I really haven't explored too much unless I see a branching path along my way.

I know I'm stepping into a thread full of mostly fans of the game but I gotta say, I am not enjoying this game at all.

I recently re-played through the Kain/Soul Reaver games and even those 5+ year old games are better than Darksiders.

The reason I mention Soul Reaver is because the game feels more like that than any of the many mentioned here and in reviews. Sure, it steals bits from heaps of other games but to me it seems like Soul Reaver was the main inspiration.

Firstly, the graphics look like the would have been some of the best on the PS2. Definitely not good enough compared to current graphic beasts.


I could go on, but this is one of those games that just boggles my mind how it could be reviewed so highly by the majority of people. I would agree more with IGN and probably rate it even lower actually. I don't get it, maybe it's the timing of release or maybe it's the blatantly obvious marketing from some of the devs openly comparing their game to Zelda, but some of the things said about this game just amaze me.

It's like a 6 or 6.5/10 'try hard' type game. I am glad I didn't pay for this game.

Hate to be harsh but it's my opinion.

Is obvious that you haven’t play the game for more than 1 hour, the only thing that this game feels like Soul Reaver games is the flying, nothing else, also I would check your TV or something because this game looks beautiful, but is your opinion, in my opinion this game is one of the best that I ever played, I have never saw a game with so many things to do, fly, swim, shoot, ride a horse it keeps things fresh every minute, game of the year for me, better than GOW, Devil may Cry, Ninja Gaiden….
And the gameplay is been there done that type of feel, yet none of it is up to par with the games it has borrowed from.

Played for like 8 or 9 hours.

Jaggies everywhere and apart from the resolution, looks about as good as God of War 2 on PS2. Not within light years of God of War 3 demo graphic quality.

Beat Bayonetta Saturday. So I have been putting much more time to Darksiders the last few days. Darksiders is sleeper hit of the year. I am just as guilty of it as anyone else. But comparing Bayonetta and Darksiders is not fair. It was not until I got into Darksiders did I see how wrong those comparison are.

Bayonetta is action/fighting game of the year bar none. I will love to see another game come out in this same genre that can compete with it.

Darksiders is one of the best action/puzzle games. It has great pacing from what I have experienced so far. Some of the best characters, voice work, and intriguing story. Then it has that "feel" of just old school fun, what we grew up as kids playing games such as metroid, zelda, mario, etc. Just a absorbing atmosphere, story, characters, level design, etc.

I don't like to compare games. But being that both these titles came out same time and are being compared in alot of circles. I think it is just fair for someone to come out and let it be known that these titles are not similar in the least. Only thing that makes these games similar is that both you are killing things. Thats it.

Darksiders = A must buy for Action/old school gaming fans. Good ol fashion fun and a must play in my book (B+)

Bayonetta = A must buy period. Everyone should play this game. Some of the great action hack and slash to grace a console not only the 360. (A-)

So those on the fence on which one. Just get both, they are amazing.

What can I say Sky, I am glad I listened to you and Dale cause Darksiders is a hell of game once you get past the slow 2 hour introduction. Some of my favorite character designs and art direction in a game in a while. It is so nice to see a game with vibrant colors and not the drab browns, greys, etc in a post apocalyptic timeline. The color choices alone makes it very appealing to the eyes and really enhances the art direction. Top notch title, like you said top to bottom.

THEN we have Dantes Inferno in a couple weeks AGGGGGGGGGGGGG what a year.

I know the game is a collection of "Been there done that" items but it was put together soooo well. I have a blast playing it and will get all items due to it being that fun. Generally I forget about the items/treasures but I don't think so this time.

the cutscenes in this game are really really done well like the voice acting and how the charactors act is really really awesome i think i am saying really alot because i am enjoying this game so far and its a nice sleeper title.

War seems like neither bad or good in this game seems like a guy just doing his thing lol i love it.

i really hope this is a start of a NEW franchise..... vigil should be proud of themselves for this becoming there first effort and being impressive.

I am about 12.5 hours in and I just killed the Greiver and obtained the gun. I am traveling now to the next destination. This is a very well done game. I don't think they really needed to spend as much time at the beginning with that tutorial. The searching for items, chests, etc. is pretty deep. I hope that this does become a new franchise and would love to see the rest of the horseman each get their own game or somehow they are incorporated into the next game would be good too.

Man, if you're enjoying the begging, just wait until the game really takes off, lol. You might have to be sedated!
