Re: Rock Band 2
For you guys out there who are expert drummer, do you have any tips for making the transition from hard to expert? Right now, I can do the first 2-3 tiers on expert, and almost anything on hard except for a few songs. I know it's just a matter of practicing before it clicks, but is there anything specific I should be concentrating on or staying away from?
Hard is becoming somewhat boring and expert is too difficult.Xbox Live Gamertag: MizzouBrentComment

1. Work on the kick drum. Kick drum speed will get you through
2. Make sure you're holding the sticks properly and practice doing rolls to the metronome. Go VERY SLOW for fifteen minutes, and your hands will pick up the muscle memory like that. For me, the most effective rudiments to get started are:

Brent, what songs specifically are you finding to be too challenging on Expert?Comment

Two things will make a huge difference in general:

2. Make sure you're holding the sticks properly and practice doing rolls to the metronome. Go VERY SLOW for fifteen minutes, and your hands will pick up the muscle memory like that. For me, the most effective rudiments to get started are:

On hard, I actually did Battery, have beaten BYOB, but failed Ace of Spades and get my (butt) handed to me on Panic Attack. What really kills me are the parts where I have to kick fast with a quick sequence of pad notes. I can't pass Epic because of this.Xbox Live Gamertag: MizzouBrentComment

Re: Rock Band 2
You can solve that problem pretty quickly. The bass leg picks up muscle memory very well. Look at Mike's video on bass drum technique. Just the intro exercise for speeding up the bass drum will fix it.
It's not easy with the standard pedal though, haha. I got through it alright, but my leg thanked me once I bought the rhythm maker.Comment

Re: Rock Band 2
I know I have a bad drum kit (blue pad simply doesn't register unless you slam it) and I've already ordered for a replacement, but I've still gone and played drums anyway, and I was wondering... I've seen YouTube videos of great sounding drum fills, and I'm not getting that. I'm not talking about my ability to do good drum fills myself (like with the beat), but the sound that comes off the screen is so delayed and it sounds very quiet, and inferior to the rest of the song. It actually sounds much better not doing any drum fills.

Re: Rock Band 2
hit them harder, a patch was just released that makes the drums louder so that helps a bit
but there does seem to be a bit of a delay between my drums with fills and freestyle modeNBA 2K11 Community Site Mix

Re: Rock Band 2
Sounds good... it still sounds weird with the delay and stuff nonetheless... but like I was saying, some people post things on YouTube with half the screen showing them play the song as well, and it seems as though the notes are playing at the same time they are hitting, which is why I was concerned.
Oh well, I just hope this is addressed or something. It really does sound awkward (then again, I need to work on my fills as a whole anyway).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
