Very pumped for this. Great to see another awesome PC game getting hyped (I'm a PC only guy nowadays)

Minimum Specs: 2.4Ghz single core processor
256MB Gfx card (DX9 compaitble)

Is everyone tuning up their rigs for this game. Seriously what do you need to run it at the graphic rate of the videos. What will the game look like on minimum specs, will it get all choppy or will it run smooth with toned down graphics?

My laptop I got about 6 months ago can handle it pretty well I think, and I'm just gonna run with it on that...I don't PC game enough to justify a gaming rig, which is why I tried to get a fairly top of the line laptop, at least enough to last me a few years.

I never expect to be able to pull off top end graphics though, so I'll just be happy with what I can get.

Yeah, despite the fact that I could afford a gaming rig, I could never justify it. Just like I can't justify spending $300+ on a new driver every season like I used to.

So I'm going to make sure to get the graphic card where it needs to be, get 2 gig of ram in my 2.4 GHZ dell dimension and have at it. Not really concerned about the graphics as long as the strategy is there.

That's exactly it...with the ram and graphics card you should be good for a while...I played the last one on a older PC and it still looked pretty good and wasn't unplayable or anything.

Side note though, this is why I'm pretty much done with PC gaming (aside from this). Most of this thread is comments like "man, I hope my system can run this" or "it's gonna cost 2k to upgrade my PC to play this well!".

I hope the high end laptop I got a couple months ago is still good enough to play this next year *sigh*

You missing a key point Blue. Low end PC's can still run the game. The only change is the "squad" sizes are smaller. As you increase the battle sizes then the system specs go up.

Most of the people saying upgrading the computer to handle it are talking about playing it in all its glory. Another words fully maxed out.

The only thing I'm worried about is if the game will be multi-threaded. I've got a DuoCore 2.2ghz which will be fine if its multi-threaded, but if its not I'm going to have a hard time running the game...at all since min reqs require a 2.4 GHZ single core. And I don't exactly have a low-end machine (4 gb CORSAIR 800 RAM, Radeon 3870 HD DDR3 VidCard, 1033FSB).

My problem is I'm restricted by my Dell mobo, which doesn't allow overclocking. I could swap my mobo out for a nice overclockable mobo to get my CPU up to 3.0ghz and run the game on the highest settings, but MS would force me to purchase another Vista license.

1. Each bullet has it's own trajectory! So cover does matter.
2. Unit's for the first time can occupy buildings! Those buildings can be destroyed by arty.
3. Naval battles....look awesome. If you sieze a ship by boarding, it becomes yours after the battle.

This game will own me.

Looks like I will take the plunge and get a new desk top. There are plenty of dual core towers on ebay for around the 300 to 400 mark. I wouldn't normally do something like this, but I just won $260 in a bowl pick 'em pool and given that I have a whole book case full of Napoleonic books as its a major hobby of mine, I know I'll get hundreds of hours out of this game.

definitely going to grab this game. Is anyone getting the collectors edition? It says it comes with 6 elite units. Will those codes get posted anyway? Is it worth the xtra $20?

CA are holding a survey, I suggest as many people answer it as possible, It also sugests that the 5 main contesters for next TW game are:

Rome
WWI
Classical Greece
Imperial China and Federal Japan
19th century

The survey also has question on feature such as most important thing in a TW game, and downloadable games, and expansions. I highly recomend answering it.

I'd go with China/Japan (basically remake Shogun, but add China) or 19th Century.

I'm not down with WWI though. Trench warfare doesn't exactly sound like fun to me.

fist, I'm staying away from the Collectors Edition (already pre-ordered the standard edition). $20 for a map and 6 units is way too expensive. Once the mods start hitting the scene they'll already include the elite units or some variation of them for free.
