Re: Red Dead Redemption
Ya, I just don't get Rockstar's logic here. Even if they are not coming out with another new Red Dead, why wouldn't they remaster this on current gen like they did with GTAV? There is a time factor here like creating a sequel to movies. The longer they wait, the less popularity there will be in it, the less overall sales.
I know there are exceptions, but history has showed the numbers are considerably higher the quicker they can release the remaster (or movie/game sequel). Look how fast they remastered GTAV and made it available on PS4/X1. And they did very well in sales.
The longer they wait on this the less interest there will be and I KNOW all about the die hard fans like myself will always be there. Rockstar should of jumped on this years ago and they would of made a killing just in the remaster edition.PS5Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption
GTAV came so fast because the PS4 came out not too long after the game released and they were stuck in between. This game came out over 6 years ago. People would be just as interested in a remaster now as they would be 2 years from now if a sequel never came.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption
I'd bet it was also easier to scale for the newer consoles because they were already working on the PC version. All they ever say about Red Dead is that the code is such a nightmare to have ported it to PC they would have to basically rebuild it from scratch. I assume that's the issue here as well. Why rebuild it all from scratch for a remaster when you can wait for the new game to be closer and then release he remaster in the interim? I actually don't think time is a factor, if they wait 5 more years people will still be happy. It's not FF7, but Red Dead means something to gamers, you see it get brought up a lot. Looking back I consider it TLOU to GTA's Uncharted. Even just backwards compatibility would be amazing, but they've gotta be working on the new one for sure. They just have to be.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: Red Dead Redemption
I seriously hope so... It's my favorite game of all time. No title ever has just completely sucked me into its world and evoked the kind of awe and emotion that RDR did.
All these remasters and sequels and the one I want most continues to evade me. Ugh.
First world problems.... lol.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption
They can't remaster the original because they no longer have the original source code. It was a huge mess, and they actually got lucky it all came together at the end, and we got the game we got. It was a development hell, hence why there never was a PC version. The code was a mess, and not worth investing in.
They would have to rebuild it completely from scratch.

Re: Red Dead Redemption
I remember reading an article, shortly before RDR's release, where a former R* employee claimed the game was a trainwreck.
If that's true, then they did a heck of a job cleaning it up because it's one of the best games ever.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption
Fascinating. I don't know anything about developing video games and reading this kind of stuff is intriguing to me.
Definitely turned out to be such a beautiful disaster.

Re: Red Dead Redemption
It indeed did. Sadly most of the source code was lost, or just too much of a patchwork mess (spaghetti)(ironic eh?) to even bother with the PC version, so I personally would not hold my breath for a remaster.
Best I see is the BC version from the 360, and a new game.
But if a remaster does come, from the ground up, then fantastic.
