Re: Red Dead Redemption
This isn't the case with most titles. But then again, most titles (maybe none) aren't as incredible as RDR.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption
Some of the side missions have absolutely awesome stories. No need to stick to the main story only. Just let yourself enjoy the world that is Red Dead.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption
I tried the "shut your radar off" option last night and that article was absolutely right. It's a whole new game and you get way more immersed in the RDR world. It's amazing how much your eyes are glued to that radar during the game when you have it turned on.
It can be slightly annoying to pause and check your map 3-5 times during a long ride but that's the only downside. It's awesome doing the missions, hiding behind a rock in the middle of a battle and having no idea how many bad guys are left or where they are hiding. It's great when you commit a crime and the marshals are coming for you, the Wanted meter comes up on your screen but you have no idea which direction they are coming from or how many are coming. I used to just stare at the radar and eliminate the red dots. Now when a pack of marshals hunts me down I know I better get off my horse and find a rock to hide behind so I can assess the situation, find all the guys and take them out.
I never liked doing the side hunter/gatherer missions but somehow they just seem more natural with the radar off. With the radar on I always feel like I'm in a rush. With it off I don't.
It makes this game so much better. I don't know if this is a thing that everyone does because I barely have read through this thread but I recommend that everyone tries it.Last edited by ehh; 05-15-2012, 01:15 PM."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

I gotta try it with this game. The other problem doing it with GTA was it also turned off your health status, whereas in Red Dead it has a regenerative health system.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption
I tried it for GTA IV, but I couldn't go without turning on the GPS as well. I love the feel, but I don't know if I could live by that.

Re: Red Dead Redemption
Well...add me to the list of people starting the game back up after seeing this thread again (I have a backlog of games I'm wanting to complete, but I couldn't resist).
I forgot how much I enjoyed this game (hogtying people, dragging them, leaving them on train tracks, etc is still some of the most fun to be had in a game IMO).
Played missions up to and including the first for Seth and also spent a lot of time hunting and roaming. I already ran into a random encounter I don't remember seeing my first time around for some reasonSpoilersomeone being hung by a small gang...I shot the rope and killed the thugsComment
