    Re: Red Dead Redemption

I started Red Dead a month ago.......love it. Never played played it before.

Amazing game. I am taking my time as well. Between M25, NCAA 14 and The Show 13, Red Dead is a great escape and way to break the cycle I am in with sports games.

I will probably finish it by Xmas......and then get to Batman Arkham Orgins.

In my que after that is:

    Dark Souls
    Far Cry 3
    Dishonored
    Dead Space 3
    Kingdoms of Amaular
    Uncharted 3
Skyrim (250 hours already without finishing the main quest and no DLC)
Fallout 3 (never played through it...only logged 35 hours will start over)
Deus Ex Human Revolution (wanted to do another play through)
Mass Effect 2 and 3 (on my second play through with ME2)

I have and extensive list still. Going next gen is not on my radar for a while.
    Now Playing on PS5:
    CFB 26 Hurricanes/Fresno State Year 2
    MLB The Show 25 - 2025 Yankees Year 1
MLB The Show 25 1985 Yankees Year 1

I hope you were the PowerBall winner from this week, because unless you quit your job, break up with your wife/girlfriend, and basically shut yourself off from the world, there's no way you're getting through that list until PS5/XBox Infinity (whatever they call the next one)!

Since this is my first Rockstar game, I have a question.

After I conclude a mission, the game auto saves. Yet, when I load it up or die, it starts from the same place I saved manually: Bonnie's house.

Hate to think I lose my completed missions, but is that so?? This includes the side stuff, BTW.

Oh, and I concluded the mission where I assist West Dickens in his selling scam. Lol, that was pretty cool; I had to fight a guy, shoot a gun out of his hand, etc. Good stuff!

You don't lose your progress if you die. But I would always make sure that I saved at a safe house or a campsite before I turned off the machine.

So the auto saves don't really do much? I'll have to manually save more? Not a big deal, just making sure.

I usually complete a mission and return to Bonnie's "for the night". I love riding back though; I've already been shot at (and killed) by some people out of nowhere.

One more thing I've encountered: Riding out into the night, I came across a campsite with 2 dudes and 2 women. I accidentally pulled out my gun. Right away the guys jumped on their horses and rode away, while one lady screams "Don't leave! Stay and protect us!" to them. She stumbles, falls into the fire, and burns to death! Lol, wow. They weren't lying when they said this game is total immersion!

From hearing distant gunshots to seeing various wild animals running around, to scenes like the one above, every time I put this game into my PS3, I don't know what I'm gonna see next! Sometimes I don't even concern myself with missions; just ride and explore.

            Love it!!

I'm not sure about the auto-saves. I usually turn them off. I was just replying saying that you don't lose your progress if you die. In GTA I have auto save on, but still save manually as well. I just don't trust auto saves.

RDR is incredible. There are so many great moments in that game. If the game gave you a chance to kill Wes Dickens, I would have, just right after he said "my boy".

Ok thanks. And I actually liked Dickens when I rescued him, but yeah he's annoying now, lol....

I didn't mind West Dickens, I thought he was funny. The one guy I couldn't kill that I wanted to was Irish. He really got on my nerves.

Haven't met him yet. But Seth is a crazy mofo...

*wow! I just completed "the hanging of Bonnie McFarlane"! Had no idea she was involved like this! I'm starting to fall for her, lol... She's a tough gal!

                      Hi Guys,

I have a question about Red dead redemption. After playing GTA V I have been wondering if red dead redemption and LA Noire are along the same kind of format like GTA games as in you can just go all over the map in between missions. I just never thought about getting these games when they are released but have really been thinking about it after playing GTA 5.

Any of your guys opinions would be awesome.

RDR is basically the same game just in the old west.

And it's among the best games ever made, imo.

I had LA Noire but I didn't play it a ton. It's a bit different.

Check out Mafia II as well if you're into these types of games. Really underrated, imo.

As Dayman said, Red Dead Redemption is virtually the same format as GTA V. The only difference is RDR's map is broken up into three parts (Old West, Mexico, Great Plains) and you unlock the latter two as the game progresses.

I'm not a particular fan of the old west or cowboys or anything else, but I can't say enough about this game. It's one of my favorites of all-time. I'd definitely recommend it.

Thanks fellas I think I will have to go pick this up tomorrow and have it to play after im done with GTA 5 ( which will be a very long time ) but at least I will have it waiting for me. I'm also getting F1 2013 in a couple weeks so wont be short on games. Aside from GTA 5 last week the last game I bought was the show in march so Im due for new games, lol

One last question, should I get the game of the year edition which also has the zombie pack or just stick with the normal game?
