Strange, playing GTA V makes me want to fire up some Red Dead. I think the slower pace of the old west is what makes this my favorite R* game.

I was just thinking that same thing yesterday. I also prefer the effect bullets have on the body in this game....

I feel like a serial killer when I say that.

Agreed. Also loved shooting guys off their horses and watching them get dragged behind. Hogtying people, leaving them on train tracks, hunting and skinning animals, etc all kept me playing the game outside of the story.

Still my favorite individual game of this generation.

After exploring the mountainous regions of GTA V I had some very strong urges to fire up RDR. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

Don't get me wrong, GTA V is great, but Red Dead is a masterpiece of its own and I look forward to getting back to it after GTA needs a little break.

Welp, finally made it to Mexico. But I don't know what happened. I never got to hear that awesome song everyone was talking about. I even went to YouTube and listened to it, but again, when I finally got to Mexico, I didn't hear it.

Disappointed, to say the least, as everyone says it's the greatest moment in video game history.....

I liked the mission, but I hardly remember that being one of my favorite moments. Well actually, not that it wasn't either...

I just think there are two better moments in this game later in the story that beat Mexico by far, and one I think I might have done unintentionally but made it even better by doing so.

I noticed that pausing the game, saving, or otherwise interrupting it as the song is set to play (or in the midst of playing) will cancel the song out. I've played through the game a couple of times so I was able to learn as I went along.

Well that sucks. Right after I parted ways with Irish, I checked the map to see where I needed to go.

Must've been why I didn't get the music. I should've just jumped on my (new) horse and rode. Shucks!

Don't fret, man. I did the same exact thing. Just stay alert for those potential moments from here on out.

                      Yeah I hear ya.

First mission in Mexico I completed was stopping the train. Man that was a blast!

Ok GTA V is very very awesome, but who here still thinks Red Dead is the better game? I still like the slower pace/Western pace and characters/story line. For a complete mayhem experience I'll make the switch over to GTA for awhile.

Storyline is better in GTA 5 to me. I feel like there's not as many random events in the city, though, which feels really weird to me.

I feel like the story drags in the middle (Mexico), while GTA V never really felt bogged down.

However, RDR's ending is IMO the best ending on this current console generation.

Concluding the stranger mission, "Poppycock". While I'm watching the back and forth between the characters, my wife enters the room, sees that, and says "what movie is this?"

                              Enough said!

The difference for me is this:

I don't really enjoy driving anywhere in GTAV. It's all a city, it starts to feel the same, unless it's a long drive from Los Santos into Blaine County.

In RDR, riding my horse from one side of the map to the other to get to a mission was one of my absolute favorite things to do. There was something about riding alone at night that GTAV couldn't replicate.

The story in GTAV is probably more consistently interesting, but the experience and immersion that I felt in RDR are why I probably like that game a little more.
