I usually play as a warrior but always wanted to play as that type of character. Do you use sword and staff or staff and magic? I'd love to be able to use sword and staff but bind some spells to the Z key instead of shouts/powers.

Yeah I used a one handed sword, but mostly "Hand Magic" as the Staffs in the game are generally pretty weak in my view.

Hopefully some cooler Staffs are in the next one and my Gandalf can go full blown wizard mode.

Are you playing on the PC? If so, there's a mod that let's you craft or buy Gandalf's sword:

        His hat too :

There's also that one that let's you craft his white robes, or you could use a mod that let's you make the Greybeards' robes and go as Gandalf the Grey.

I'm surprised there wasn't a major DLC announcement today in an attempt to steal some of ME3's thunder.

I have a dragon priest staff that I got way earlier in the game that I still have (I don't use it though because I'm Conan), but I give it to companions sometimes...I tried it once just to see. It does 50pts fire damage per second, plus the damage associated with being on fire. That's huge! I've seen much weaker staff action, but that one is pretty big imo. Plus idk, but can you craft them?

My next playthrough will be magic heavy since I've never tried it, but you can enchant the crap out of things. I didn't know things stack like they do - for example my 2 handed weapons with one boost of about 15% or something because of a necklace was 101 steel greatsword (epic), but equiped a similar ring and noticed it was getting crazy like 139 or something. I won't do this, but making all my armor have the same boost I could get it to stupid proportions where I'd be taking down dragons with 2 sword hits. I won't do that though, it's un-conan

But back to the wizard. With enchanting your hand magic could probably get off the charts strong. I've never tried to craft a staff, enchant one or do anything like that so I'm not certain you can, but I'd like to know too.

You cannot craft or enchant Staffs, and they also didn't provide nearly enough "Robes" in the game.

24 hours into my Destruction Mage character...I have yet to speak to the Greybeards, I am the Arch-Mage of the College of Winterhold, I've started the Dark Brotherhood questline and I've been running around doing random stuff all over the place.

My Destruction is at a 63 and my Enchanting is at a 61 and my Smithing is 69...but other than that everything else is just kind of...eh, skill-wise. Been trying to focus on just those skills for now.

Been a completely different experience than my first character and has been, strangely, more enjoyable. I have yet to use a weapon even once, just been strictly Destruction spells.

That was pretty much identical to my second play through except I also concentrated on conjuring as well which was pretty cool at high level (2 x demora lords were pretty bad ***).

I found it more challenging with a mage than I did with a hand held weapon type of character and I never got that truly invincible feeling like I did with maxed out weapons and armour. Good for a change of pace thats for sure, I just wish there were slow-mo kills for magic and arrows like there was for hand held weapons...

So I didn't get MLB The Show in time for the weekend so I made the foolish mistake of checking in on my Skyrim save. Three hours straight of playing I realized why I took a break. So good though.

I honestly don't know. I kind of assumed it would be for all platforms at first but now I don't know.
