Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Feel like I kind of got the shaft with the thieves guild:
SpoilerOkay, first there was the Mercer Frey storyline. I thought it was a nice story line, I became a Nightingale and all was cool. Then I realize that doing that in no way restores the guild to it's former glory. Okay, fine, let's do it. I do a **** ton of side quests for the guild trying to bring in money and eventually, after seriously a long *** time (to me anyway), that achievement pops up. Thieves Guild glory restored, sweet.
Now, along the way, I've found these little Stones of Barenziah. I take them to Vexx and ask her what it's all about and she tells me that I've got to find 24 of them for them to be worth anything. These stones are not easy to find people. There are 24 of them scattered all over Skyrim like what the hell. Unless you just want to be walking around like a *******, backtracking and all like a fool depending on your luck and what not, you're probably going to want to use a guide or a mod that helps you find them. I used a mod.
Sidenote: I happened to look at the quest again and I saw one of the goals of it was to become a full member of the Thieves Guild. WHAT?! I am a Nightingale, I restored the Guild's former glory and am apparently Guild Master (Even though I still get sent out on missions by my subordinates like a bitch) and this quest tells me I've yet to be fully accepted?
Okay, back to it. After another long period of time has passed I finally get my hands on all 24 of these stones. I take them back to Vexx and surprise surprise, she tells me I'm not done yet. I have to now go get this crown out of a cave. Sigh...fine Vexx, I've come too far to stop now. I go to the cave thinking it'll be a short run. Silly *** me. This cave is a lot bigger than I was hoping for. Whatever, I get it done, I get the crown and take it back to Vex. My reward? A buff that increases the chance of finding a gem when I open a random chest/container. Really? The kicker? It doesn't even show up in my Active Effects tab so I really have no idea if it's really there or not.
All of this, being a Nightingale, a full member of the guild, it's savior and hell, it's LEADER and not one of those bastards will follow me as my companion. Seriously, out of like 20 of those sewer rats, not one is willing to follow me out of the crap tunnels and help me with stuff (not even the douchebag I saved from the Thalmor Embassy). Not one of them thinks I'm worth marrying either. What the hell?
Can't say I will waste much time with the thieves on any future characters.PS: You guys are great.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
SpoilerBrynjolf was a cool character, a guy I could see hanging out with. What happens after we become Nightingales and I do all of Vex and Delvin's missions?

Color me unimpressed with the defeat of Alduin.
SpoilerMatter of fact, aside from the more challenging amount of Draugr Deathlords and Draugr Scourges, Sovngarde seemed like the same old dungeon, with the same old puzzles. I died maybe 2-3 times before besting Alduin, whereas Kvenel the Tounge in Volunruud defeated me in upwards of 2 dozen times.
I mean I am definitely more powerful and equipped now with my leveled Nord who faced Alduin, but it just wasn't this great battle I expected it to be.Last edited by JBH3; 02-27-2012, 11:23 AM.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The actual fight with Alduin wasn't the most challenging, but I thought the experience was great. I really enjoyed it.PS: You guys are great.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I enjoyed it but yeah I wasn't very difficult. I seem to have more trouble with some of the random mages that level up with you and some of the crowded Draugr Deathlord situations than I ever had with any of the dragons but I still freaking love this game....Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Again though, if you're on the PC, there's a mod called Deadly Dragons that will make you think twice about that Alduin fight, or any dragon fight.PS: You guys are great.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
So I got bored and stopped playing...again...
I'll keep this in hopes that maybe the DLC, random patch upgrades, and maybe my feelings with change. Otherwise I'll swear off Bethesda forever. So much promise, IMO, and yet so little pay off.

That's very surprising to hear. I've eavesdrop on many condvos around the different cities and locations. I've even heard three way convos where only two people are talking at first and then a third will walk up and join. It happens more often the first time you enter a location.
