If it means anything EA has said they are going to make the playfield you can build in bigger. At this point though I'm sure they're just about getting the damned servers working, LOL..

The lack of the "playfield size" has been my biggest issue with this version of Sim City. I feel like I'm to the point where I've built what I can in my city, and I just have to sit back and wait for it to grow while taking care of the minor problems that come about. I don't remember having such limitations when playing the game as a kid.

Are the servers getting better for anyone else? We've had it booted up all night with no issues :knocks on wood:

I've had no problem getting in when I've wanted to over last 24 hours. Wasn't actually trying to play though, just logging in to see if it was working.

Social features are still disabled though - I'm waiting for that to come back on so we can get an OS region going.

Here’s a quick update on the problems we were experiencing with SimCity – and a little something extra for people who bought the game.

Yes, I'm well aware that the free game will probably suck. But at least they're apologetic about it.

Just found out the if you have a 16 city region they all don't connect, only cluster of 4 do.
            why?

after many trial and errors, i finally understand how to make a mega city in this game, and it relates to you, i tried doing the same, i found it best to specialize in one are, for instance i did oil, if i had other people knowing what they were doing in the region i would have had more space, cause then i could buy power (which was my ultimate demise) water, etc. its damn near impossible to have all the services in one city, and make a thriving mega city, i got the population up 100.000 was waiting on others in my region to catch up and specialize in something so i could buy services from them, like schooling i had no schools, and well it caught up to me. nuclear power plant has not 1 but 2 meltdowns, rendering a quarter of my map radioactive, and it cut my population by 30-40,000 went into debt fast, and had 500,000 simoleons saved up to build a greatworks i needed a million, well i tried to hold on for dear life, before my money supply ran out, but to no avail... moral of the story, you can't fly solo in this, unless you are the cities in the region too, playing on a public server, you better hope your peers know wtf they're doing

I could log in also to a server supposedly.... It's when you try and play it goes to a "server busy" message.

Just got all the way in and created a private region, no problems. You might go ahead and try it again.

Again the social stuff (friends and region filtering) are still down, but you should be able to play on your own.

Servers are definitely better now. I haven't had a problem getting in all night. Like most, I'll be happy now when the social aspects of the game have been turned back on. I've maxed out my city in a little 3 city region I made when the game first launched. Sure would be nice if one of you could join me in it.

I'd rather they give us a patch getting rid of online play only over a free game....
