Re: Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag

I'm glad to see this is getting good reviews. I've enjoyed this series from Day One and how the developer has painstakingly been able to recreate different historical eras.

Of course, I'm still not quite done AC III so you can take that for what it's worth. I've played the entire series on the PS3 but I think I might wait and go PC for AC IV.

Shoot, I played two hours of story and as soon as I got the Jackdaw, I just started doing side missions, collecting shanties, hunting sharks and raiding plantations.

Re: Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag

I admit, I saw some gameplay of the beginning of this game. I almost went out and bought it. I need a price drop or two first. Im just so burnt out on this animus and assassins hidden blade gameplay. If this were an ubisoft pirate IP I would be all over it day one though.

I didn't like the first Assassin's Creed and haven't played another one since. The clips I've seen on Youtube for Black Flag look pretty solid though. That being said, I can only handle one open world game at a time, and I still have a ton left to do in GTA. I'll probably check this out on PS4 down the line.

Fantastic. Don't play if you have ADD though. As soon as you get your ship you can just go wherever you want. And Ubisoft throws some random island at you to go explore all the time. However, if you don't upgrade, you will get to butt handed to you by some monster ships out there. I played 12 hours, and I'm still on sequence 3.

This game is a lot of fun so far. Since I haven't played an AC game since the first one, I'm kind of letting the game hold my hand and show me all the different things I can do before I explore on my own too much. It's almost overwhelming how much stuff pops up on the map. I've done a bit of exploring in each location that the main story has brought me so far, but there is just so much to do. I can't even fathom how long this game is going to take to clear everything.

Re: Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag

Yeah, they truly fixed a lot of the complaints from some messes of AC3. You get the Jacdaw within the first 2 hours. However you can fully explore Havana before you leave. Then you can just go. Hunting, harpooning and crafting are a blast. I do wish there were more predators on land besides Jaguars and crocs, but Great Whites and Killer whales will kick your behind if you don't upgrade the rowboat and harpoons.

If you are new to AC, you can play the story straight through if you need to learn all the new stuff. However, plan on doing some exploring. You WILL need those upgrades, while in AC3, you could get away with just playing the story. You will also need to attack board ships to earn cloth, wood and metal to upgrade the ship as well. The only thing you can't do early is explore shipwrecks however, because you don't get the diving bell until later.

If you don't upgrade the Jackdaw, please stay above Cuba and near Nassau. The Man-o-wars show no mercy close to Mexico. I got killed in one Broadside attack while looking for islands.

Lastly, I have yet to find any glitches . Thank GOD

Yes, for Edward there are two types of upgrades. Weapons and health/storage. Weapons can mostly bought. The swords and and pistol you get at first are total crap. The first thing I bought were pistol upgrades while exploring Havana and doing assassination contracts

Health and storage upgrades for more bullets and darts have to be crafted from hunting. There are also a few hunting outfits that can be crafted that make you more accurate for harpooning and less visible to land predators
