Just need to be Uplay friends, don't think it matters what system.

Looks like social sharing and fleet help can only happen via uplay friends and not your console friends list.

It works off console friends, I have zero uplay friends but Mabster has been bumping my fleet and I his.

I've been doing the best I can!

yeah, same, but these missions are too damn long. I'm going to beat the game before I can just wait out all the fleet missions.

Just tried taking down a legendary and got my a$$ handed to me! lol!

Yeah, first time I saw a legendary on the map I sailed on out, then I saw the two ships sitting there and was like the nope dog meme, I turned around quick.

Good news is now I feel comfortable doing ship battles where it feels like you are in combat with half the Caribbean. Mortars are killer, can't imagine them powered all the way up. Every ship I pass I check it for metal, that's the most precious commodity in the Caribbean apparently.

Get full upgrades 1st

Top right: Twins ships
They try and split you and hammer from both sides so you need to run and drop fire barrels until you kill one of them.

Bottom right: In the fog
You need to stay close and do circles around her and just keep hammering her with elite round shot and elite swivel gun

Bottom left: storm with tons of motors and armor

Your guns won't hurt this ship from the sides and her motors fire like crazy all around. All you can do is get behind her and ram her and use your chase cannons. Stay right behind her and and dont slip along side her or your done.

That's where I found the companion app the most useful. Managing your fleet while away from your console is real nice.

I had just logged in, accepted.

And I just checked Uplay, you're friends in there already. That means if you're psn friends and have your console linked to Uplay it auto friends people there too.

I'm not sure it shares social stuff between consoles types though I'm on PS3 and I've got a couple friends playing on PS4. We tested it, they don't get notices of my social findings.

I don't think you can help fleets along either between consoles.

So its definitely not just Uplay friends.

My uplay friends list is empty (or was, I now have one friend). Also unlocked all the uplay stuff while I was in there, mostly just interested in the sword pack. Ah well, gonna watch Almost Human then get back to the mass slaughtering of agents from Spain, England and the Templars.

How does the social sharing work? I haven't registered for uPlay yet so maybe that's why I haven't been able to get that option? Unless you have to be on uPlay for the community/social treasures/hunts?

I finally got my pirate island and my fleet ability last night. It seems a bit more streamlined and easier to understand than the assassin contracts/missions from AC3.

How much longer until I get my diving bell? I kinda want to go underwater and explore.

I love this series and the setting, but lately I feel like I'm just grinding fighting ships to get wood and metal just to upgrade my ship to beat the next mission. I have to take breaks between NBA and this just to not get bored.

I'm feeling the grind a bit too, metal especially is just entirely too rare considering how much is needed to upgrade the ship. Something that would help that is if the raidable warehouses refill over time (doesn't seem like they do).

She likes to ram you, and for a Man of War from the 1700, she seems to have a modern engine under her. She can turn on a dime and accelerate like crazy.

You start going head on, so I turned away so I could force her to pull along side and blast her with the heavy shot. Nothing else you have really does any damage

I'm feeling the grind a bit too, metal especially is just entirely too rare considering how much is needed to upgrade the ship. Something that would help that is if the raidable warehouses refill over time (doesn't seem like they do).

You guys probably aren't strong enough to attack the ships that have it in abundance yet because its usually big ships.

Certain areas ship carry metal and sugar or rum and sugar etc...

I was searching for wood for a minute and couldn't get it because of the same reason but once I got over that hump, now my hull is almost at max and my weapons are getting stronger.

Take out one of the fortresses and hit a ship then sail near the fortress...lol they'll chase you then run or get totalled coming near the fortress even get blasted enough for you to take them out without putting up much of a fight if at all.

Here's what I did to get metal scraps to upgrade the hull. I basically let Spanish and British wear each other down then I moved in for the kill after being an observer.

3 Man O' War in the fight after a while. It all took place in the south seas close to the Great White Shark hunting area.

I've seen IIRC 2 ships with 100 metal, usually it's a lower number like 80 or 90. That's still like 60 ships to get the rest of the way up to max strength, that's a lot of ships just to find, never mind boarding them without getting jumped by half a dozen ships that just happen along.

Maybe I can get a high wanted level and just park by a fort, maybe take a level 2 fort beforehand, and let the pirate hunters come and get cut down by the fort. Might have to try that tonight.
