The legendary ship basicly force you to use all the ship upgrades, one ship you ram, one you mortar etc..

"but to use Heavy Shot you have to not hit the AIM button. The game doesn't make this apparent. Just hit FIRE. You can still aim this low, extremely powerful fire by lining up your ship perpendicularly with its target," -ign AC4 Guide
I had no idea not aiming would let me use the heavy shot, it's been all round shot and i'm 74% finished the main sequences.

^ I beat the game today and never knew it. I assumed if you were within a certain range it did it automatically...

Took me forever to figure that one out, kept trying to switch ammo and it would never switch. I think I discovered it by accident, hitting fire without aiming. Annoying.

There is a pop up or something that says just hit fire for heavy shot, but it could easily be missed

Re: Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag

Have had the game for a little over a week but really sat down with it today. Spent a good 3/4 hours exploring Havana and trying to do everything there is to do. Having not even got out to sea yet and I'm already loving it.

Is there any reward for getting 100% of the side stuffs in each area?

That's why I missed it. I turn off most of the HUD icons.

I didn't realize heavy and round shots were different until I upgraded both to the 2nd highest level. It finally clicked that I had four different ammo types, then I read the ingame instructions.

I fully upgraded my ship last night and downed the legendary in the SE corner. I will be taking on the twins this weekend.

I dunno, most disagree with my opinion, which is a good thing, glad y'all are enjoying it... but it just didn't do it for me. Beat it and put it on Amazon for sell right after.
I can see your side though. There is a reason why I'm currently only on sequence 7 but have a fully upgraded Jackdaw. If it wasn't for the Pirate aspect it would be the same old thing. The heavier inclusion of the naval aspect at least gave the game enough of a change of pace to feel fresh again to me.

For the most part everything has been tightened up as there seems to be more freedom to execute a plan than there was in AC3. I usually sneak take out an entire area before going through with the assassination. But, every now and then I want to just fight my way through everyone and most of the missions don't punish you for that. The eavesdrop and follow mission are still annoying though.

Finally, this game is stunningly beautiful. There are times when I just sit back and look at the graphics. This is the first game that to me shows what the next-gen of graphics will look like.

Good points. So far I feel like AC3 had better climbing/running enviroments than what I've come across in AC4, but you're a pirate so the shift of focus to the naval gameplay is great and a nice change of pace.

This is my first AC game and I cannot stop playing. I have Killzone, Madden and NBA2k and really haven't touched them in awhile.

Man I've been putting mad hours into this game and cannot believe how much stuff there is to do even when the action slows down. I got to an island today to get an assasination target and once I him out and almost everyone on the island, im collecting chests and animals and synchronizing the island, here pops up an Assasin with a challenge which then leads to a few missions. I just love it!

That said, I just found out when you go in the captains cabin in the ship you can check out your fleet and even simulate the fight between your ships and the others on the map, clear out an area that opens up other parts of land that opens missions for those ships. I thought you were only able to buy docks to park them, send them on occassional missions or choose to salvage them. Its like a little mission within a mission.

Also as I was in the office doing that part of the game, and I broke into the CCO's office, reading his files I noticed it showed you ideas of different AC games they could do. Egypt was one, Africa was one and quite a few others. They even mentioned times of WWI and WWII as well as guys like Napoleon and Ghengis Khan as well as Japan and something about Samarai's as well... Pretty cool. Ill try to post the pic of some of it later..I didnt take pics of the pictures they had illustrating some of this though.
