      Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)

Finally started the game for real last night and played for 9 hours and 4 minutes straight. Would have been 10 hours if it wasn't for moving the clock ahead an hour. LOL.

Game is awesome and addictive as hell. Enjoying the game a lot as a solo lone wolf as everything fits me perfectly. Was able to clear out Chelsea during my 9 hour session. Right now, im definitely leaning towards buying the season pass but I'll wait and see how the rest of the game plays out before I decide either way.

Props to whoever here mentioned/recommended the MP5 sub-machine gun. Granted, im only level 5 or 6 (forgot which) but this gun that has an auto burst is damn good. Better than the assault rifle I have as it's more stable and accurate.

Not all peaches and cream though. Really wish that there was a crouch button in the game. Gameplay/control wise, that's the one thing that's missing. Would also add in stealth takedowns with a knife but considering the game, that would make absolutely no sense whatsoever but crouching should really be patched into the game if possible.

AI is excellent, especially on hard. They rush, flank, go around me, try to trap me like im the monkey in the middle. Died once in the police precinct on the roof because of this. Boss and some minor guy had me in the middle. Overall, died only twice thus far, mainly due to the MP5 that I have.

Don't know about anyone else but playing The Division, so many ideas pop into my head. First is the obvious, where the hell is my Brooklyn DLC Ubisoft???? They better release that, sooner rather than later. I have no problem paying for it outside of the game and season pass.

Second is no stamina bar in the game. It should be in the game because to be able to run without getting tired is hmmm, very unrealistic and yeah yeah, I know but it would have added more to the game. Third is the consumables. I don't like how they're implemented. Would have preferred NO regeneration health and instead make the soda, candy bar, canned food and water replenish portions of your health while med kits would completely fill it up. Think The Last of The Us.

Those are my minor complaints. Other than that, everything else is excellent thus far. Visually, the game looks great except for the pop-in. Music and sound is great. Story, characters and voice acting is weak link in the game but everything is so good, it doesn't hurt the overall game. Plus, the atmosphere, immersion and addictiveness easily makes up for you.

Hope everyone is enjoying the game as much as I am. Well, time for another long *** gaming session. LOL.

I recall having read a story about not being able to shoot through car windows.. I tested this out finally today and you can absolutely shoot through car windows. Just wanted to share that. Lol.

This game is sooooo damn good. Glad I got the digital gold preorder.

Does anyone know if they plan to unlock parts of the city that are currently locked? For example, they talk about how bad Central Park is...I want to see it.

As a fellow lone wolf I agree with everything you said except for adding crouch and stamina.

Crouch - just completely unnecessary IMO and would take away from some of the fluidity that currently exists with the controls. Besides, the character crouches a bit already as a warning that enemies are nearby.

Stamina - would make traveling around the map WAY too time consuming. Besides, the only thing realistic about this game is the setting and the guns, lol.

                Glad you're loving it man!

My dolly. I really like that now that I'm in the 20s the low level streets are full of 16-17 guys instead of the original level (ie 4-5).

I think the weight of guns feels like crud. Otherwise, in the half hour I got to play, I totally dig this game.

Some of these games are too "confusing" for me, though. I'm not good at reading the UI and other things. I need to be better tutored at that... not just for this game, but most games I play. Even sports games, and I know everything there is to know about sports. And I'm not talking about dyslexia lol.

Yeah, ghosthawk was a kid I ran into on the beta, I didn't run into too many OS guys to team up with in the beta, so I ran into ghosthawk either in a mission or the dark zone or something, and ended up teaming up with him and a couple other randoms for most of the beta.

If the three of us (you, me and Shando) are all on again tonight, we can either just roll with the three of us or try to find a fourth OS guy to join up, get a solid OS group going.

Also, I gotta say, massive respect for you going through hell with us last night. I never would have set the Joe Ferro mission to Hard if I knew it was going to scale the enemies up to level 20+. Going through that entire mission fighting enemies 10 levels above you, and many of them Veterans (purple bars) or Elites (gold bars) with all those shields, you earned mad respect from me for being willing to stick that out to the end!

While playing missions on hard will get you more experience, I think we'll stick to Normal tonight if we run any more missions, that way the enemy levels will end up split between us, and just give us level 15 or 16 enemies instead of 20-21+, give you a better chance to do some greater damage against them and give you a chance at staying alive against those guys instead of them being able to essentially one shot you.

Hey man, yeah thanks for the props, I really was just happy you guys were patient enough to keep reviving and rescuing me, LOL. I did go up quicker and had a lot of fun. Last night I wasn't able to meet up as I got a game going with some of my old NCAA league buddies.

Played all night until the wife stood silently in the doorway with a pissed off look on her face until I had to logout at 2am lol. I'll be back on Wednesday or Thursday evening though! I'm level 15 now btw

                              Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)

Here's an example of just how deep you can dive into the rabbit hole that is specialization in this game. I admit some of this is theorycrafting as it relates to the L30 Darkzone but it does hold up rather well against NPC's.

Well I've hit level 30 on both character level and Dark Zone Level, finished the story and am now thinking about how to optimize my build. My entire focus is centered around using the SMG's specific bonus - critical hits. Every skill and talent I'm using, as well as most of the equipment, is focused towards that and dealing as much damage in a short time as possible.

With my current SMG I do almost 6000 dmg per normal body shot, and with a magazine size of 55 I can full auto that thing with almost no recoil. It's decent damage, but I really need critical hits (orange damage numbers) to make it worth using.

With my current equipment set (which is just barely endgame with some recalibration mods), I have a 31.5% SMG base critical rate with +84% crit damage. That's not taking headshots into account which I don't really look for since I have to be close in.

There are a few ways I can can increase that rate even more, and that's where the specialization really comes in. Pulsing a group of enemies highlights them through walls (everyone knows that), and it increases critical hit chance and damage by 12% and 25%, respectively. I have equipment that boosts that up to 16% and 38%. That means that, while pulse is active (26 seconds), I will have a 43.5 % chance to crit and 107% extra damage when I do. That's....significant. If I REALLY want to get serious, I also have the signature skill that further increases normal damage (+50%) and Crit chance (+20%). Even equal leveled elites' HP will melt to that fairly quickly, but it only lasts 12 seconds and takes a LONG time to recharge.

So, what happens when the fight lasts longer then 26 seconds? With all this damage I don't put a whole lot into survivability and as such, I have to more or less hold the line. My first priority is recharging that pulse, so I use the smart cover with the recharger mod (which also heals me, and is my only non-consumable out-of-battle healing option) to decrease skill cooldowns by 20%. I have an AR that deals out more normal damage than the SMG - it's not as dependent on crits, so it's more consistent without the pulse), so I switch to it during the recharge. Then when it's ready (base cooldown for pulse is 64 seconds, though it's less with that smart cover), I pulse again and go back to work with the SMG.

As I mentioned before, it's pure glass cannon - 4-5 good AR shots from a L30 will drop me. Smart cover isn't a very quick heal, so I'm very dependent on medikits when things go south.

So that's what I'm going with right now. That's just one example of what you can do. Each class of gun has it's own buff - headshot damage on marksman rifles, for example. Getting the most out of endgame is going to come down to how well you build around that starting point, I think.

You don't have to crunch the numbers like this to be able to enjoy the game, but it's certainly there for those like me who want to.

Yeah cruise, I've been using crit chance and crit damage bonus on my SMG to circumvent my lack of firearm rating. It's nice to be able to invest almost solely in electronics, with some ancillary stamina added in, and still have halfway decent dps due to an awesome smg with as many bonuses as possible

                                Edit

Signature skills play a big role in endgame dz pvp, as well. Difference been one group dropping another is how well they used their signature skills in the fight.

Also, just FYI, rogue baiting seems pretty common in endgame dark zone. Groups of 3-4 will go to a low health npc and stand around him trying to get hit by your bullet/grenade/skill. Just be careful
