    Re: No Man's Sky

Expedition and Patch 3.97 are live.

So far its a lot of fun. If you look ahead and plan it should play pretty quick if that's what you are looking for. Or you can long play it and then covert it to a regular game save.

Hello Everyone! Last week, we released our 20th major free update for No Man’s Sky, ENDURANCE. When we first added freighters to the game back in the FOUNDATION update, we could never have imagined we’d be here, reimagining them, six years later – we had no idea what was ahead of us!     We’ve...

      Re: No Man's Sky

Just a heads up for anyone trying an expedition for the first time like me:

If you know your way around the game it's very likely you'll unlock some expedition rewards out of order, even some that are in different phases. When this happens, be aware that after you collect one of those rewards the expedition log doesn't automatically reset back to the phase you were actually on - it tries to move to the next one in the sequence which most of the time will not be completable at that time. You need to manually select the phase you were initially on from the left side of the expedition screen to have it give you the actual current objectives.

It took me a while to realize this and I ended up wandering around a crashed freighter for about a half hour with no guidance of what to do next. Might be kind of off-putting for new players to end up in a situation like that. The game's in game instruction is actually really good with the ability to pin anything you want to craft and having track the materials collected as you go, but it kind of fails in this case.

To add on to this a bit.

Also DO look thru the whole Expedition Goals. There are a lot of things that are easier to complete if you know they are Goals and you can work on them as you go.

For example it tells you to scan things in the 4th Tier I believe. Well you can start scanning things right away. By the time I got to the 3rd Tier and on all I had left were basically story missions. Things progress much faster and smoother if you look ahead and plan.

You honestly just have to hop in and lose yourself. Don't worry about the updates, and find everything yourself.

There is a lot to it. But it does a really good job of teaching you all of the basics. Just follow the Artemis story line to begin with. Also there is no time crunch. You don't have to worry if your mission log fills. It really doesn't matter unless you want it too. This is actually a really chill, have a drink, put on some tunes kind of game. There are tons of videos on YouTube or just ask. This is really a great community involved with this game. Just have fun with it and let it happen and it will develop into the game you want it to be all on its own.

Alright, I've played for roughly 30 minutes and I'm pretty hooked already.

I'm still repairing my ship on the first planet, and you're gonna sit here and tell me there's 18 QUINTILLION PLANETS that I can explore?

I looked it up and it would take a single player 585 billion years to fully explore every single planet in the game.

It's kinda cool that there's stuff in this game that some players will find, and some stuff they'll never see.

This is one of those rare games that it either hits you just right or it doesn't. If you become a fan you will always be a fan. You may put it down for a while but sooner or later you will pick it back up.

Once you start developing Settlements, Meeting People, learning the Lore, getting you Freighter and then your Wingmen set up. It really does just start taking a life of its own. This game has so much life in it. But I think what some people don't realize is that YOU have to breathe that life into it.

Well wishes Traveler. See you in the Next.

You can get Storage Upgrades at every Space Station on your first visit as well as The first visit to the Anomaly in each System. Beyond that you need a signal booster and DROP POD COORDINATE DATA. This can be purchased but can be a little hard to find and are not super cheap. Also once you establish a Base you can construct Storage Units and Teleporters that allow you to quickly travel between your Base and Space Stations/Freighters.

                          ENDURANCE 3.98
                          July 31, 2022.
                          Hello everyone,

Thank you to everyone playing the Endurance Update, especially those taking the time to report any issues they encounter via Zendesk or console crash reporting.

We are listening closely to your feedback, and have identified and resolved a number of issues. These fixes are included in patch 3.98, which will be live on all platforms soon.

                          Bug fixes

Fixed a visual glitch that could occur when the player stood on very steep ledges or railings.
Fixed an issue that could cause some Leviathan-specific missions to persist beyond the end of the expedition.
Infestation Nexus missions now correctly lead players to the target planet.
Fixed a number of visual issues with freighter engines.
Improved the messaging during combat at Sentinel Pillars during Nexus missions.
Fixed a number of collision issues in freighter bases.
Fixed a case where freighter rooms with ladders could prevent other parts in the base from being powered.
Fixed an issue that prevented players from building inside another player’s freighter base, even with the correct multiplayer permissions.
Fixed a collision issue that allowed players to become stuck when jetpacking into the freighter bridge teleporter.
Fixed an issue that caused some NPCs to give dialog from the wrong quest the first time they were interacted with.
Starships can no longer be purchased or exchanged while your current ship is being salvaged, to prevent issues were inventories and stats of your current ship were displaced.
Placing a ladder in a freighter now automatically adds a room above it.

Fixed an issue that caused NPC ship labels to have the incorrect pilot name in pirate space stations.
Fixed an issue that prevented freighter upgrades related to frigate speed and fuel usage from working correctly.
Fixed an issue that prevented Vy’keen face shape customisation from being available in the Appearance Modifier.
Fixed an issue that prevented organic frigates from making contact if discovered in uninhabited systems.
Fixed an issue that prevented summoning a freighter immediately after acquiring a new organic frigate.
Fixed an issue that caused incorrect information to appear on the frigate UI (such as ‘flesh status’) after viewing the Leviathan.
The visibility of the ‘feed’ slot for organic frigates has been improved.
Fixed a number of minor visual issues with freighter base parts.
Fixed an issue that allowed unwanted bases to appear around specific Nexus mission locations.
Fixed an issue that could cause Nexus missions involving activated Cadium to fail to initiate.
The visuals of the freighter Nutrition Room have been improved.
Two additional freighter base parts have been added: an internal staircase and a set of exterior stairs.
Fixed a number of shadowcasting glitches on freighter exterior bases.
Fixed a rare case where players would not receive a Dream Aerial from fleet mission after a mission was totally destroyed, or after adjusting the system clock.
Fixed a number of PlayStation 4 specific crashes.

We will continue to release patches as issues are identified and resolved. If you experience any issues, let us know by submitting a bug report.

                          Thank you,

I guess one of my main questions, is do I need several of the same item in my inventory? Do they work together?

Like right now, I have three jetpacks in my exosuit inventory. Do the perks stack or whatever? Or can I get by with only using the best one? These might be stupid questions, but I have a lot of similar items taking up most of my space.

I feel like what you probably have is upgrades for a specific technology (usually you can tell if it's an upgrade because it'll have a letter grade on it), and yes, they do stack. They're also stronger if they're grouped alongside their associated technology. Upgrades by themselves don't do anything - they need their associated tech installed to be of any use. They don't HAVE to be grouped together with their tech though, if you're really inventory crunched - doing so only provides a bonus.

Regarding inventory space, you have a technology section in both your exosuit and your ship that is reserved exclusively for technologies and upgrades, so loading those up with all your tech stuff can save you a few inventory spaces. From your main inventory, just D-pad right to go into the technology section. If you've already installed tech into the main inventory you can freely move it from the main to the tech area - don't dismantle/re-craft the tech because you won't get everything back that you used to create it. You can also add slots to those tech sections, same as the main inventory or cargo.

Yeah, I got those basics down for the most part. I guess I'm just getting frustrated by the lack of space overall, how you either have to find rare parts or spend an insane amount of money to to add slots.

I'm sure it's just new experience annoyance that it's not working the way I would expect it to. I've only been playing for a day.

Also the spacing and organization of the slots makes NO sense for the most part. I'm looking at the tech tab of the exosuit, and if the spots were numbered, I have access to 1 & 2, and 12 & 13.
