Did you get to the woods yet? There's a bunch of things related to sorceries there, like a ring to speed up casting time and a helmet that boosts magic damage. Also you gotta boost your dexterity as that's linked to casting speed.

Yeah I think I got all that, honestly the only good spells I have are carthus flame and great chaos fireball, which have no int or faith requirements and great magic weapon is alright too. All the sorceries feel super duper slow and seem pretty nerfed. Lightning spear is trash, I got another lightning spell but my faith wasn't high enough so I couldn't try it. I decided to re-spec for now because I was getting absolutely slaughtered in Irithyll and Demon Ruins. I'll prolly change back when good stuff unlocks and I'm level 70 or so. My level 37 can't do jack.

EDIT: Holy cow, this game just got easier now that I re-speced to a knight. Beat that fire boss right away. Irithyl was a lot friendlier too. Sulyvahn was a really cool fight . I liked that one. Then right after I step into the next area and

BAM. Invaded. Just charges and attacks, no courtesy. Beat him. BAM. Invaded again. Fighting guy no 2... BAM. Invaded Again by the guy I just beat. 2on1 and I die.

Level 39 with 20 hours recorded and beat just 3 bosses

There have been so many things I found just exploring the areas. I do not want to just rush through the game and beat it. I got a ton of NPC at my Link Shrine and found a secret spot in the elevator before fighting the ice knight. This leads to a friendly talk with an NPC and a fight vs a huge monster (not a boss) in this secret area.. Once beaten you get tons of trinkets and a backdoor area to explore and get even more things.

I manage to get to boss 4 but lost because I had no esklas left and then decided to continue exploring the area and found even more things. Amazing game so far

Might go fight boss 4 tomorrow.

Up to level 79 now. Down to the last lord of cinder. I've had a lot of luck going almost pure strength. Wielding a black knight greataxe along with the armor of a fallen DS1 boss that looks AMAZING.

This game has far exceeded my expectations. Can't wait to run through NG+ as well.

There I was thinking it would be a cool level like Tower of Latria... I can deal with the health thing but their one move you get stunlocked and OHKOd. Nonsense.

JUst beat the 4th boss but will go back and cross the lake where the crabs are to get to the part I have not yet dig in to yet. I went into it but got killed by the Knight and I want to beat him next time. From there I will go to the next section in the poison swamps. I hate those

Was stuck on a late boss in untended graves for a while. I'm surprised he's the one who's given me the most trouble, that damn roundhouse kick. Just finally beat him after putting the game down for a day

I just rented this to see if I can get a quick taste, lol. Are there any tips I should know before I start? I did play Demon Souls and Dark Souls but not DS 2. Has a lot changed? I have a 15 month old so my game research is quite valuable.

Took down the dog and now I'm on to Undead Settlement. Huge place with lots to find.

So what weapons are you guys using? I'm currently at the last boss or two for reference. Possible spoilers below...

My character currently has 50 STR (after equipping Knight Ring), 35 Dex (after equipping two different rings, can't remember which), and enough endurance to wield great weapons.

I'm currently maining the Sunlight Straight Sword found in Lothric Castle. I had to get my faith up to 16 for it (the highest I'm going), but man, the scaling is amazing. I've got it maxed, and it has B/B scaling at +5, along with a great weapon art. I find myself often swapping out for the Fume Ultra Greatsword as well, as it obliterates most enemies in 1-2 pokes. Lastly, I'm also rocking the Dragonslayer's Greataxe. It has a ton of regular and lightning damage at +5. I had been wielding the Black Knight Greataxe until I found the FUGS.

I've been doing the occasional grinding for the Black Knight Greatsword and the Dark Sword as well, but haven't gotten them to drop.

Can any of you vets confirm or deny this?

Absolutely. Knight starts with a really solid sword that you could theoretically use the entire game and a shield that blocks 100% of physical damage.

This is my first real go at a Souls game after playing through NG+2 in Bloodborne, and using a sword and shield has really helped to ease my journey.

I've been using Dark Sword mostly. I infused it heavy and it's +8 right now. The R1 spam is OP and the reach is about a foot or two further than it should be. I also sometimes use the heavy exile great sword +6, the heavy zwei +6, and started using smough great hammer +3 for ****s and giggles sometimes now that my strength is at 45. Then I use a Pyro flame in my left and to infuse with carthus flame arc. I've made some boss weapons but I don't have enough scales to make them good enough yet.

Re: farming for dark sword. I got it AND the dark set by like my second or third trip from the bonfire to that boss in farron keep. Its really good. I'm prolly gonna make it so it is still usable and infuse with crystal or dark or lightNing when I re-spec back to a int/faith.
