Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Has anyone finished the game (story) and gone back and started over? Has it felt repetitive and longer since you can't skip the story stuff?
I went through the game with theSpoilerhappier of the two endings
Any advice?Check out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.

I "rushed" thru the story so that things would not get spoiled for me. In doing so I really did not do a lot of the side stuff at all. So in my second play through I have been really taking my time and doing ALL of the exploring and side stuff I can find. Honestly I dont think it can be done in one or two play through a even. Knowing where the story is going has actually helped a little as I have fleshed out everything and I have a deeper connection with the characters.
I have stopped progressing the story around the time you discover the fishing lures and stuff for that. Now I feel I have access to everything I need to craft and collect. I have almost double my time investment in this playthrough over what it took for me to complete the story the first time. I must say I AM enjoying this play through much more.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
I really can't say how much I've loved this game. It's the most fun I've had playing any non-sports game.
And the graphics?? Wow. I often swap to Cinematic view and hold down "A" just so I can watch the landscape as it passes me by. Unreal.
I really can't say enough great things about this game.
HOWEVER, if I were to be a stick in the mud it would be this.
I wish your choices had a greater impact on the story and ending.
As it stands - and please correct me if I'm wrong - no matter what you do, or which direction your outlaw meter runs, the story remains the same and you'll always be presented with the same two choices at the end.
At one point, just for grins, I went on a killing spree murdering anything that walked or crawled on this earth. I had a great time finding people, hogtieng them and then launching them off a tall railroad bridge. What fun!
Eventually I make my way back to camp to advance the story when a cutscene triggers and suddenly I'm preaching to Dutch questioning the morale compass of the gang and how we don't kill for pleasure.
As great and engaging as the story is (the music, the cutscenes, the voice acting - what a ride!), I do wish R* went in a different direction.
Instead of a long, 6 chapter story, why not 2 or 3 chapters? The story and options provided to the player would change depending on your actions.
We all know the Preacher is a loveable drunk. What if you decided to drink a lot as Arthur. While you won't become a preacher, you will absorb his storyline.
If you perform dastardly actions, then you will start following Micah's storyline.
Each direction you take, an NPC within the gang fills the void/role that you originally take.
As it stands, I really don't have much interest playing the game again as none of my decisions would really make a difference in the long run.
But if R* kept the story shorter, and perhaps simpler, you could replay the game over and over with several different side-missions, options and outcomes at your disposal.
I'm a huge fan of KOTOR. Depending on your decisions, the story changed drastically.
That's what I'm looking for with RDR3.
Saying all of that, I really do love this game. I'm going to play on for months even after I finish Epilogue II.
I just think that perhaps in the future, R* could consider making our actions carry more weight.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
I kinda accepted it as "it's a video game" type thing but yeah, the morality meter is pretty silly.
My first playthrough I chose good morality but it is implausible that Arthur would be a mass murderer by day and helping old ladies cross the road by night.
You just gotta shrug your shoulders and keep it moving.NFL - Vikings

While I agree I'm not sure the meter is very well done the truth is history is filled with murderers who killed people by night while helping little old ladies cross the street by day. That's how the vast majority of killers are in fact.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
I just don't like how your honor goes down when you're in an isolated area or nobody can possibly know who you are.
If I independently, stealthily killed 100 different people in secluded areas, the prices of the items I purchase in Valentine would soar up. That doesn't make sense.
I'd rather trade off a more impactful negative honor demerit for each thing I'm actually caught doing in turn for no penalty so long as I can't be demoralized in the citizens' eyes.Last edited by Blzer; 01-13-2019, 01:08 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

There is a bar that pops up to remind you of every good or bad deed that you do, and it also pops up any time you hit Down on the D-pad. Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
RDR was my most anticipated non sports game ever and 1st one I've paid full price for. I loved it and then I had a really busy stretch from thanksgiving to New Years filled with vacations, holidays and friends in town. I would try and play a little a hour or so when I had the time instead till I just decided to wait till all my distractions was over instead of playing when my mind was elsewhere.
Now that things are back to normal I am back to having a blast and its one of my greatest games of all time. Its odd because I'm not a huge fan of open world games and I don't like getting from point A to point B. I rarely even play all the side quests in a game and very rarely collect things in a open world game. Just something about this game I enjoy doing things in it that I would complain about if it was in another game. I played a few hours last night and then I was going to just play about 1 more and stop and I ended up staying up till 2 am.
I am still only at the beginning of chapter 4 so I am still torn on exactly how to play as they are just so many things to do. I think I am going to focus on the collectables and legendry animals the next two nights. I am really glad I got the guide book as that's really helped and I've not had to keep my ipad around to look stuff up. My overall completion is at 45 % so I want to improve that some before I get to more missions.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Just finished the story.
SpoilerI immediately set out West as that part of the map hadn't been explored yet since there were no missions there. The desert area is absolutely beautiful. I decided to head to Armadillo first but it was pretty unstable at dusk with some gun fighting so I decided to put up camp in the outskirts. The West - is a wild place thus far. I can't wait to just explore for hours and see what else I can discover.Comment
