Re: The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)
I agree with you 100%. It took me 5 or 6 attempts and being in lockdown for me to actually finish Horizon Zero Dawn. I see that Horizon is a good game, I'll grab the sequel on sale at some point I'm sure, but I just wasn't blown away by it, and that's ok.
I saw that LoU2 had received something like 24,000 reviews in a matter of days; the original amassed about 9,500 reviews its entire 7 year life span. It's one thing to not like the game, the impetus for the entire story is gonna turn people off, and that's fair. The gameplay isn't a huge leap or anything. There's plenty to not like about the game. But to bomb the game, or try to spoiler it, or just to ruin for others the way some of these internet people have is too much.
Then again, I wonder how many of those people are actually gamers and not just the internet mob. LoU2 passed Spiderman for best PS release ever and this after the story was leaked and the game got trashed for a month. I cant help but chuckle when I see youtubers or comments rant about the difference between the games metacritic and user review score and how thats proof of an agenda; but the actual sales after internet mob said they wouldn't buy it mean nothing.

I have believed that since Uncharted 4 that Druckmann needs to go. Straley and Hennig were always better in my opinion.Comment

Re: The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)
I keep seeing all this hatred and disappointment and I just don't get it. I'm 3/4 of the way through and love it, even with the spoiler knowledge. I'm glad we got a different game and not just more of the same...wish more devs took risks instead of pallette swaps, repetition, and more of the same. That kind of entertainment can be enjoyable, but it's easy.

Re: The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)
People talk about misleading but the reviews for this game are no better.. talking about the AI running the same tired routes LOL. ok then perhaps up the difficulty cause I have never watched better AI routes in my life.
Little things like that make you wonder? You can hate the story and that's fine but don't make up stuff. I'm talking YouTube reviews not people on here.

Re: The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)
It seems like the story leak was actually the best thing that could have happened to the game. It's led to the dismissal of a lot of criticism and has led to the game staying in the conversation consistently. From reading around various sites, it does seem like the community is definitely split on the game and if I had to say it leaned one way or the other, it seems to slightly lean towards the disappointed side. That doesn't really matter, though, as the game has received so much attention due to the leak and has sold an incredible amount and continues to sell. One thing I have definitely noticed is that many people who didn't buy at launch have basically dismissed all criticisms of the game because the narrative that was pushed is that all of the people complaining all had political agendas and half of them didn't even play the game.
All I know is that I haven't even played the game yet, but I doubt it will be as entertaining as reading all of the reactions from everyone who has played it and goes online to voice their opinions. Even here at OS it seems we have a very healthy split of those that loved it and those that don't even want to finish it or they did finish it and will never touch it again.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)
The enemy AI was great on Moderate difficulty. Companion AI though is the complete opposite.
YouTuber wise, I have watched MBG, Dreamcast Guy, ACG and Skill Up's reviews. They all had the same complaints with the story and characters while praising everything else.
Funny thing is that after playing through TLOUP2, I actually have the urge to replay TLOUR for the 4th time which is saying something as I rarely replay games.
Oh well. Back to Desperados III.Comment

Re: The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)
12 hours in. I'm sure I'm still "nowhere far" within this game, and it's a good feeling. I'm going to look back at some point and see how long it took me to finish the first game, but kudos to Naughty Dog for providing some duration in this title.
This game (and its predecessor) has always had this funny lack of balance for me where I can't craft things when I really need to, and then where I am stocked full on things that I can't craft enough of. It's not the game's fault, it's just the way that I go about playing. Sometimes I use stealth too much only to realize that if I just threw a couple of molotovs or laid some trap mines, I could get the job done and craft to leave open room to collect more stuff. All my items are always "full" and I'm kind of mad at myself for conserving way too much... until I finally need all of it, and then I'm wishing I could have it all again.
Companion AI has been interesting for me, so far. They'll help stealth kill if they have to kill the last person. Also, when they headshot somebody, distance doesn't seem to play a factor. I had my companion headshoot somebody about 200 feet away with a pistol like it was nothing. I'm just glad they can't be spotted when I'm behind a tree and they're wide open, haha.
This game closes off certain portions when you can't go back, and it upsets me when I miss a part not knowing that the next area I enter will close that previous spot off (because it's definitely not always obvious). I don't know if I missed a card to collect or something else that might contribute to trophies. I hope I wouldn't have to replay the entire game to go back to that point, and I can play specific chapters after the game is over just to seek out those locations again.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)
It's not horrible but it's not great either. Every time I had a companion, they would stand up as opposed to being crouched or in cover like I was. They would get in my way repeatedly. And yeah, the enemy AI doesn't see your companion AI just like in the first game.Comment

Re: The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)
The characters of the game wouldn't be exploring ruins for fun lol. It's very clear the world is a constant danger and the characters are exhausted from consistently pushing forward with minimal rest*. In that vein, it makes sense that the designers would close off old parts and keep things linear.
