In the trailer, the British are charging WITH the Japanese as allies. The British would never field an infantryman missing an entire arm or any limb. Will peg legs be an option?

It's a game so it doesn't need to be realistic or historical, hell it could put robot Germans and go the route of Wolfenstein BUT at least be clear with the direction of the game. It's opening dialog of the reveal was talking about historical accuracy and representing the stories told, etc. It's disingenuous to say just because prosthetics was a thing long ago (longer than 1818, there is artifacts from Egyptian era) that there was a one arm woman running around WW 2 carving up Nazi's and Dice is telling her story.

For me, it's the deviation away from Battlefield 3, which was grounded in some form of reality, V appears to stray and that turned me off. It's weird because a lot of people have got butt hurt over the woman on the cover, which I could careless about. Everything is politicized now a days and Battlefield V is seeing that, the same way COD did with no swastikas.

So from a game perspective I don't like the supposed direction the series is going, I'd rather a more lean to their old titles like Battlefield 2 Modern Combat & the spin off Project Reality.

I love that people are crying that it is not realistic representation of ww2. Its a damn game and if it was realistic representation it would be boring as hell. You people are just crying at the littlest stuff.

Name me 1 game that is even in the same stratosphere as battlefield in fps genre. I'll wait.

I disagree! I've enjoyed the hell out of battlefield for years but I don't feel at all it's the pinnacle of the shooter genre. For starters ARMA 3 is pretty much better in every way EXCEPT fluidity.

Expanding out from that Squad is basically a battlefield rip off, same movement system, same shooting style, similar control schemes, hell even the objective based play is just like Battlefield PLUS I'd argue it's even better looking. The multiplayer is also bigger 50 vs 50 where I think battlefield was 32 vs 32.

Insurgency is also a fantastic experience and in my opinion the best current shooter on any system. It's just built more around squad CQB style of play.

If we expand that out to less realistic games then you have Overwatch which is clearly a more competitive game.

Saying that Battlefield is high above everyone else just seems like you haven't played enough shooters or the style you like is battlefield lol .

Dice commented saying they'll take fun over authentic. My question is why not have both like the older titles managed to do for years.

That's exactly what I've been saying! I'm all for setting aside some authenticity for fun factor but I buy battlefield for the realistic weapons, uniforms, equipment, and a more grounded gameplay when you compared it to something like COD Advance warfare.

When people don't know the setting is WW2 should say at least something, without them saying it at the start of the reveal that it was "WORLD WAR 2", I don't think I would of made the connection strictly based off the trailer either. It does have strange vibe to it, that doesn't scream WW2.

Disagree. So having a mechanical arm makes it more fun? Being authentic/realistic has more to do with the visuals, atmosphere, immersion, and weapons and cosmetics more so than how boring or fun a game is. Realistic representation doesn't mean boring.

ill probably play it, but I dont like where the series is going. Hardline was what it was, I just dont get the point, theres this woman with a hook for an arm, like most of us started playing battlefield with 1942, and it was epic, was hoping we got battlefield 1942 but with todays graphics, and from the trailer it appears they went in a different direction.

This is directed more to everyone who has some doubts after that trailer, but I'd recommend watching Jackfrags or Westie talking about the actual gameplay changes being made in the game. You owe it to yourselves. Outside of the ridiculous cosmetics it doe sound like they are actually trying to get nitty gritty Battlefield gameplay back where squad play is front and center.

Hearing them talk about the changes and then watching the trailer makes the trailer make a little more sense. If the gameplay is what they make it out to sound like, I think many here will be able to look past the cosmetic issues and enjoy it if they enjoyed what the series used to be like before BF1, Hardline, and 4.

Yeah, the gameplay changes they discussed, if implemented well, sound amazing.

I personally don’t care much for the cosmetics either way so I’m super excited for this game.
