Re: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Finally made it to England. You have to do quite a bit of story to make it there. Also annoying spoilers
SpoilerThey have modern day you leave the animus BS in the game again. I always did find this annoying. It breaks up the flow.
But anyway, England is when the real fun begin. Where you do camp building, etc. Raiding in England is quite challenging though. Definitely going to need to build yourself and your people up. England is no push over. Died a few times. Resources are hard to come by and every building is expensive.
Graphically England look better then Norway did. Being how resources aren't easy to come by and looking at the size of the map, I say this game should last a long time. Combat is harder compared to the last handful of AC games. I think that is because ranged weapons do a good amount of damage as well as heavy weapons.
Seriously a trio of archers can kill you pretty quick if you aren't careful. I died from that.Comment

Re: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Initial impression is I liked the feel of thy combat in Odyssey better. But i haven't gotten used to this yet.
This is one of the nicest looking games I've ever played. One downside of playing with HDR - taking screenshots is difficult

Re: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
I enjoyed the combat of Odyssey but I am looking forward to dual wield of Valhalla and the different combinations you can have. Videos seemed fun.
This article suggests grabbing Breakfall and Auto Loot in the skill tree. Also says Missile Reverse is a good skill.

Re: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Let's assume my PS5 shows up tomorrow as scheduled (no tracking info from Wal-Mart yet) - just a Fedex holding in a warehouse. I'm keeping my PS4 Pro just long enough to transfer data from it and then trading it in for Call Of Duty, and credit at BB on Friday.
Is there any advantage to pre-ordering the digital copy of Valhall and loading it on my PS4 so it will be ready to go quicker as the one game I have to play tomorrow on the PS5?Comment

Re: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Just bought the ultimate bundle for pc. I haven't really played any games other than 2K5 in years. I'll get it installed tonight. I'm looking forward to exploring this huge map as a viking.
Any basic tips that someone that has never played an AC game should take note of?

Re: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Are any of you playing in HDR on an oled? If so, how do it fix the grayish blown look in areas like caves that should be more dim? It's driving me nuts because You lose a lot of detail in picture. It's hard to show what I mean in a screenshot. Turning off dynamic tone mapping and turning down brightness help a little, but then the it becomes too dark around the top of the screen.

Re: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
So far I'm really enjoying this one. Other than a couple audio glitches where dialogue skips for a second or 2, and a single 2-foot section of rope being invisible, I haven't noticed any significant bugs or glitches.
I love the customization and settlement building. And having just beaten God of War for the first time, a bunch of the Norse mythology and lore is still fresh on my mind.Boston Red Sox

Re: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
They really need to rethink difficulty to make it more enjoyable. On hard you have to do double the damage as the boss like npc's and they just walk right through arrows even if you hit the weak spots.

Re: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Just started the game and played for a tiny bit. Climbing feels more organic amd smooth. Textures look really good amd the game is smooth. Player models need to be less stiff imo. Some effects like seeing breath in the cold could be a little better but it’s a good looking game. Kids back to playing on it lol.
Found it interesting that you can toggle gore and nudity on/off.Comment

Re: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Well, I finally loaded it up tonight on my pc and 65" tv. My pc can handle ultra high at 1080p and keep a nearly constant 60fps.
Game looks unreal. I suck at it. Bad. But it looks incredible. I haven't played a game outside of football since gta5 launch. I'm not going to drop the difficulty, as I want to actually get good at the game.
Can't wait to actually get a chance to dig in for a couple hours at a time.

I'm playing on pc, and I was able to move Odin sight to d pad up. Don't see why you'd want to disable it though.Comment

Re: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
This game is a blast. Combat is kind of buggy though at times. When it is more then one person the camera tend to pan around rapidly, at times having you facing the wrong direction. I do like the fact stamina plays a big role in fighting. Only built 2 building so far. Like I said before, resources are hard to come by. Forming alliances take a LONG time too. I been at it for over 6 hours trying to form one. So many missions to do over a vast area of the map.
Most of the game I was shield and axe. It is alright, switched over to the 2 handed axe. Slower but more powerful. Only downside is you have to be extra careful around the archers and every battle seem to have a dozen of them. I haven't been to my camp in a long time due to trying to forge alliances. Just had my second crash on PC since launch day. Even more deadlier then archers, are the pikemen and dual wield dagger dudes. Pikemen can kill pretty quick with their reach. Dual wield dagger dudes are highly agile and quick. If you not good at dodging, they will kill you.
England do like mighty pretty though. Far as weather, snow in Norway. In England only had rain a couple of times and just a windy day. Majority of the time though the weather be sunny, at least in the part of England I am at currently. Level 26 or 27 right now and I still feel under powered going against people. Came across, I don't know what he was, a knight or something. He was on a horse and had shiny armor going down a road. I thought oh cool, let me kill and rob this dude. That dude turned out to be level 90. One blow and 99% of my health was gone. I ran away.
This game seem to cater heavy on the exploration. If you want abilities, you will have to find books across the map, which of course requires you to explore everywhere. Same thing with resources, have to explore. Hunting give you very little. When they said you starting from the bottom, they weren't lying. I could easily see myself putting well over 100 hours in this game just due to how little amount of resources you be getting at a time and how expensive stuff is.Comment
