I stopped behind her, thinking something was wrong, and she just looked at me. I said "what?", and she gave me a rude response about how a gentleman would've opened the door for a lady. My first thought was "yeah that's why I didn't open the door", but of course I'm not gonna say that
Most of the time it's because if I let go of it, it'd most likely hit them. And also social conditioning.

That I can understand, and personally is the main reason to hold a door

On the topic of holding doors, I hate (normally happens after church) when everyone is heading towards the door. I hold the door open for my family, then the little old lady behind my family, then it becomes everyone and their mothers who wants to use the door.

The "men", I don't really consider them men for having the door held open for them, don't even try to help out and just keep walking out the door. I can't let go cause then that's the time some little old lady will be walking and get hit with the door. There are times where I've held the door open for 5 whole minutes.. this is why my family has already gotten to the car and have begun wondering what happened to me.

We were sitting three rows behind the Lakers bench when they played the Hornets, some guys behind us got pissed at my buddy for standing up too much. The thing is he was really standing. He would just pop up after a big dunk, block, etc. After a while I got pissed about their bitching and started popping up deliberately. Which was a dick move, but I tend to be a dick when I'm annoyed.

Also a guy behind us got booted for "taunting" Kobe. One would think that he cursed at Kobe or talked about rape or said something vulgar. Nope. All he did was yell "Hey, Kobe you ain't going to make the playoffs." He did say that really loud more than a time or two. Then Kobe looked at security and pointed at the dude and next thing he know, he was gone.

I usually go during the weekend. If I'm in a pinch and forced to go during the week, I'll go ahead and spring for the wash and scalp massage after the cut.

And I do, but I'm not a professional door holder for everyone. I love being kind, but at the same time I don't want to hold the door open for 15-20 minutes for people that don't even acknowledge you or even thank you. I'd rather hold the door open for a few people, then normally some man should do the same.

The first thing that comes to my mind is the discussions regarding twitter and facebook. There's always one person who will bring up the fact that they don't have one or either as if that makes them cooler.

I always say "No, after you," and don't take no for an answer.

Im polite because thats just who I am. How the other person reacts to me is pretty irrelevant to my life. But Ive never had somebody outright react in disgust at me holding a door for them. The other day I helped a lady get her stuff into the laundromat because she was pregnant. How she would react to my aid was the furthest thing from my mind.

And before Fly3 gets on my *** I would have helped a pregnant man get his stuff in the laundromat as well.

It's just courteous to help people out.

Whether it's me holding a door, picking up something someone dropped, grabbing a tray for someone waiting behind me, or waiting till everyone steps off the train before I enter.

I think of others. If they don't, that's cool. It doesn't ruin my day but I will think you're inconsiderate. If you don't care about my opinion...well, clearly you don't because you don't consider others, so moving on.
