Cashiers who can't bag to save their lives. Like come on people.......You would think they EVERY store would teach cashiers how to bag like the first day they are hired. How hard is it to put like things together in the same bag. Things of the same shape and size in the same bag. I kid you not, I had ice cream, bread, potato chips and a bottle of irish spring in the same bag. Like what ?? I even separate things on the counter to make it easier for them and they still don't know how to bag.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

We have department caps on hours worked per week, depending on what division you're in. I'm in patrol, so I know my max/cap and the hand-slap that follows when I go over. But supervisors don't give us much choice due to short-staffing and vacations.

This will be the third damn week that I've exceeded the cap by at least ten hours, thanks most in part to short-staffing [as mentioned], supervisors calling me out while I'm at home, and having to stay over fairly often on crazy calls. I don't say no to overtime. Never have, never will, unless there's a family event that I'm committed to. These same supervisors that are calling me out to work will be the ones calling me out for working too much in a couple weeks...

For what it's worth, this week (payroll goes Friday to Friday), I've worked 88 hours. Week before that, 86 hours. So this pay period will be 174 hours for two weeks. I'll claim 24.5 hours of that as comp and the other 69.5 hours as overtime. I can't claim anymore than 24.5 hours comp because that 24.5 hours will max my comp pool out.

There's going to be a lecture, come Monday or Tuesday morning. I can't wait.

Looking up issues, especially computer or tech related issues with not many results, finding a thread/post on a site where someone has had the same issue only to read:

"I fixed it/found the solution, thanks"

With no mention of the solution anywhere else.

Bagging groceries is really the easiest job you can imagine (unless you have a really fast checker and it can be hard to keep up on a busy Sunday with all the customers buying industrial size ranch dressing).

Not to be too harsh, but if a 17-year-old kid can't do this, they are in for 65 more years of heartbreak and failure. OK, maybe that was too harsh. One of the reasons I like to used the automated lanes because nobody bags my stuff better than me.

Sad thing is, these aren't teenagers, they are adults in their 30s, 40s and 50s. So they definitely should know better.

People who can't wrap their minds around the meaning of a bright yellow tape that reads "CRIME SCENE DO NOT CROSS".

Kidnap and rape, followed by a homicide and suicide this evening. Seriously. Some days suck. Setting up the perimeter on the scene and no one gives a damn. They all want to get their pictures for the fam and Facebook.
