Seriously though, that sucks. I've never had the misfortune of needing to work holidays, so I literally don't know what that feels like.

Black Friday isn't a holiday though. It's a business day.

It's my own fault, I've always volunteered to cover for everyone because my parents lived out west and I never really had a reason not to work that day.

They recently moved to Baltimore though and I haven't gotten to spend Thanksgiving with them in 15 years and was planning to do so.

Apparently, only myself and one other manager (out of 11) were the only ones who hadn't already asked for the day off.

So, my fault, but I don't generally put my vacation requests in almost 11 months in advance.

Yes/No. I have worked that day every day for the last nine years. I have a good case to say no and make someone else work.

Not wrong about credit, I gave up on worrying about that a long time ago. Just don't want to leave our employees hanging.


My main gear grinder was being asked on January 2nd if I would work November 27th (Part A). By someone who hasn't been in the office for two weeks until today (Part B).

My parents always ask me for buying advice when it comes to anything electronic and most of the time they get something random I didn't suggest.

They wanted a TV for their porch so I gave them three options all regarded for having great brightness and the least amount of glare. They ignored all those and spend $150 more on something that might as well be a damn mirror. It's a good TV, but it's useless during the day.

I don't know if I agree. For me, it's not about not being able to leave them at home. They stay at home for 10 hours during a work day just fine.

They just really like to ride in the car.

If I'm running down to the gas station for a three minute stop, I'll let them hop in the car if they want to.

Same here. I buy overpriced fancy lattes once a week on Saturday morning and my dog always comes with me. They even have dog treats at the drive-thru window. I'd have no problem taking him to Lowe's/Home Depot once he is a little older. Lowe's has been dog friendly for at least 10 years.

Lol, same happens to me.

Even worse if I suggest something that's a certain price, they opt for something half that price knowing it won't be as good and will have to be replaced....so they buy 2 at once [emoji17]

Going into a public restroom that is for one person at a time only, but just going in there to wash hands, no other business, and there are other people waiting for you to leave. The geargrinder is noticing the toilet is in bad shape, and even though I only was in there for the sink, I cant walk out of there knowing the person coming in as I leave will think I'm the offender. So I'm compelled to clean up someone else's mess. Yes, I have a sickness, I'm not proud.

Heh, I mentioned something similar a couple of years back.

When you enter a public single bathroom that is already stinky, and as you leave somebody else is out there waiting to go in... to the stinky bathroom... where you have to leave essentially taking the blame.

You may say: "Who cares? They don't know who you are." You then have forgot about a little environment called the workplace.

1. I live in the city limits and am required to pay for garbage AND sewer yet my house isn't on a sewer system and we have a septic tank, field lines, etc. My neighbors across the street are tied to the sewer.

2. My neighbor beside me dug his own ditch in his front yard and angled it towards mine so now his runoff is puddling up at the end of my driveway and mailbox. I'm either going to have to cut into my concrete driveway to slope it away or I'm going to be a dick and go block off where he stopped at our property line because he could have discussed it with me first. I already don't like this ******* because of all the dog issues we've had and how he's never even come to talk to me after his dog tried to kill mine and attack my family.

2. Part of my back yard that has the septic tank is holding a lot of water lately. We're going to have to utilize some french drains, concrete poured drains, etc. to divert water because the ground is really saturated. I have a lower and upper backyard and rain runoff from the upper comes down and into the lower and it just doesn't drain very well.

3. My septic tank is completely full, mostly from water because the lack of drainage so I couldn't flush any toilets at home last night and barely used any water except for brushing teeth this morning. I went to the gym last night and worked out just so I could shower there lol.

4. College courses requiring you to use a program that requires a product key, which can't be purchased at a discount or rented like you can a textbook. Instead of just renting the textbook digitally for $28.00 this semester I have to pay $120 for the product key and book.

5. Insurance completely sucking. $7000/yr for family coverage and I have to pay $30 to visit the doctor? $200 to visit the ER? Get bills in the mail because the insurance isn't covering some of the stuff at the doctor like a chest x-ray or lab work? and they won't even help me with a sleep study thing to see if I have sleep apnea.



Sorry.. thought I'd list a few things grinding my gears while I'm here. I'm actually in a pretty good mood and enjoying life.. most of this is first world stuff.
