Re: Man shot in the back by cops, while on the ground
Tell you what, and I'm dead serious. An easy, easy test. You and two of your buddies get another buddy to lock his arms (do something to get his adrenalin flowing) and try to cuff him. I got an idea. Pepper spray your buddy. That will get his adrenalin flowing. It's as simple as that. I don't care what kind of training you have. I want you to test this without giggling and laughing at him. If you think two or three men can just sit on someone whose got an adrenalin rush and doesn't want to be there, you better be UFC types and know all those pain compliance holds, hope he's not sweating, and hope you have enough strength to hold on.
Not for your buddies sake, but I think that the story that would come from it might add some humor to such a sad thread.

Come on Jim, Baumy, and Knight. What do you guys know about this. I mean between the 3 of you there is probably only about 50 years of law enforcement experience.
I mean seriously guys. If anyone wants to try to go against what these 3 guys say, then you need to seriously reconsider the way you see the world.
the whole point is a gun/weapon didnt need to be drawn on a subdued suspect.
good grief.#SimnationComment

This got off topic, sorry about that, but felt I had to respond to some of the stuff I felt was pretty unfairly subjective.Comment

Re: Man shot in the back by cops, while on the ground
Well, the thread was taken way off topic before either Knight or I started posting. You might have stepped in then, you think? Both Knight and I agree....jail/manslaughter. Not defending the cop at all, but certainly going speak out when so many people are making general statements about cops that are, as you say, "stupid".Comment

Re: Man shot in the back by cops, while on the ground
Let me say one more thing about neutralizing a suspect. Just to give some people some perspective on this from a real life story.
My dad was seriously injured in the line of duty about 15 years ago. Long story short, they had a suspect in the booking room. It was my dad and another officer. The suspect became very uncooperative, my dad and the other officer tried to restrain him and during the scuffle my dad and the other officer were both injured. It took 5 guys to bring him down and cuff him. They later found out that not only was he drunk, but was on pcp. This guy was around 20 years old and prob 5'9'' 175lbs. My dad at the time was probably 6'3'' 265lbs. My dad sustained multiple herniated disks in his back and missed over a year of work. All from a guy 5'9'' and 175lbs.Comment

im sorry your dad went through that experience.
but thats not even the same thing as this when the kid was under control and subdued, and asked not to be tazed or shot.
he wasnt strugglign/fighting with the cops trying to get away, maybe squirming because his face was being pressed in to the ground, thats pretty much it...#SimnationComment

Re: Man shot in the back by cops, while on the ground
I wasn't talking about the officer in question at all. I was simply referring to the fact that people think its so easy to take a suspect down and subdue him.
by the way, I think my sarcasm is funny.
Seriously though man. You obviously know I support law enforcement more than most, but if it is found that this cop did kill this man in cold blood, then I am all for him getting severely punished.Comment

Re: Man shot in the back by cops, while on the ground
so this means that the subdued suspect who got shot in oakland was on pcp.. or coulda been?
im sorry your dad went through that experience.

Once again I never said anything about the incident in Oakland. I was speaking on the idea of subduing a suspect, and how easy/hard it is. A cop never truly knows what they are dealing with.Comment

because pulling a weapon out in that situation aiming at THAT person, was clearly unnecesary.
imagine having your face on the ground and grown men with there body weight on your neck and back youd squirm, im sure of it... but do you tihnk your squirming warrants being tazed, or having a gun drawn on you?
thats really my whole point.
im sure it was ana accident, but the suspect didnt cause that to happen, dude drew his gun for no reason, and because of that negligence he should be punished.
jail/manslaughter, yadda , yadda. if he makes it that far. because i know his life is in danger now, his famlies too.#SimnationComment

ive mentioned that i dont tihnk it was in cold blood, it most likely was an accident. but he should still be punished for taking a life.
