You could easily check someone without hurting him. The problem is that those cops pepper sprayed that guy against the wall and one guy was trying to hold him while the other 2 were just standing there in front of him. All 3 of those guys need to hold that guy against teh wall. And plus in the vid the guy was sitting down. I can guarentee that 3 13 year olds would be able to take that guy in the shooting vid down. All you have do do is get on his back, he falls down, and sit on him. Just sitting on that guy would restrain him.

Re: Man shot in the back by cops, while on the ground
Are you guys seriously......SERIOUSLY trying to tell me that you know more about this kind of situation and what it's like, than three(two former) P.O.'s?
Have you ever restrained and cuffed someone who did not want to be cuffed?
What did you guys do...stay at a Holiday Inn last night!?

People talk politicing on here without knowing what they're talking about, so I figured I'd take a stab at policing tonight.
Besides, I not only took introduction to criminal justice, but introduction to criminology. That puts me at least on the level of a bomb sniffing dog.Comment

Re: Man shot in the back by cops, while on the ground
Actually my response has to do with you saying you could keep someone down(who doesn't want to be kept down) by simply sitting on him.
That is ridiculous.
I'm sorry, there is just no other way to put it.
I watched my partner get his shoulder dislocated trying to cuff a suspect who resisted.
I hit him on the head with my nightstick.
He turned to me and punched me right in the throat.
I'd say he weighed about 180-185 pounds.
I weighed about 230.
I was KICKING THIS GUYS *** and he still wouldn't stop...it was all I could do to restrain him(I couldn't get to my spray)
I could not cuff him(and my partner couldn't help me any longer) until three other uni's arrived.
It is NOT as easy as you think....especially when adrenaline(the only thing in his system to my SHOCK!) is involved.
I'm not proud to say it...but this guy looked like hamburger meat when I finally got the cuffs on him...AND HE WAS STILL FIGHTING.
Obviously, this particular incident is not the same as what happened with me....but I'm not trying to justify the incident this thread is about.....it's just about some of the statements made.

Re: Man shot in the back by cops, while on the ground
Here's the thing. You don't try to cuff him first thing. One person restrains his upper body while the other restrains his lower body. Sit on him near the shoulders and near the legs. Have the third guy come in and cuff him. Sure the guy will squirm but if their efficient enough he won't get out. And seriously if it actually gets that bad is there a rule against using pressure points?
Tell you what, and I'm dead serious. An easy, easy test. You and two of your buddies get another buddy to lock his arms (do something to get his adrenalin flowing) and try to cuff him. I got an idea. Pepper spray your buddy. That will get his adrenalin flowing. It's as simple as that. I don't care what kind of training you have. I want you to test this without giggling and laughing at him. If you think two or three men can just sit on someone whose got an adrenalin rush and doesn't want to be there, you better be UFC types and know all those pain compliance holds, hope he's not sweating, and hope you have enough strength to hold on.Last edited by jim416; 01-07-2009, 11:15 PM.Comment

Hey....you guys now know where we will be on the 29th and 30th.
Bring a camera.
It'll be quite humbling to somebody when we post the vid.
(please don't take this as hostile....it's mostly in jest)

Good grief, RAZRr and no offense, but you've obviously NEVER been in a real fight.

I mean seriously guys. If anyone wants to try to go against what these 3 guys say, then you need to seriously reconsider the way you see the world.Comment

Jim you like tackling and wrestling men? So I guess you wrestle them and Knight takes pictures with his camera. Nice!
