My favorite wheat beer is Paulaner Hefeweizen. Readily available at beer shops/BevMo/Total Wine, etc. Franziskaner is delicious too, as is Weheinstephaner. Lots of good wheat beers around.

Don't forget Sierra Nevada's Kellerweis, which is also widely available.

        Oh GOD yes.

Best thing to do, Champ, is to go to www.beeradvocate.com and look up beers that are in the style you're looking for. I taught myself about beer (still don't know **** compared to so many others) after spending hours on that damn site, lol.

I'm the same, self taught. I wish I could sit down and have a tasting session with somebody who could walk me through exactly what I'm tasting. I'd like to be able to tell the difference between different strains of hops instead of just knowing that I'm tasting hops.

That is a good beer. I like most of what Sierra Nevada puts out.

Alright, thanks. I think I will research this week and go buy some good beer this weekend. I finally have some extra cash coming in so I can afford to expand my beer horizons.

I don't know where you're from but if you have a brewery nearby with a wide selection (like a Yardhouse perhaps, or a local Belgian Abbey-style place) that allows you to sample the beer first, I'd try different Belgians. One I'm a fan of that's somewhat along the lines of Blue Moon (although not really fruity and stronger, more of a caramel taste) is Tripel Karmeliet. If you're in California (not sure where else it might be found), I'd track down some Golden Chaos. Had some of that last summer and loved it, but don't think it's anywhere in Arizona. I usually alternate between the Karmeliet and St Bernardus Abt 12 (a darker Belgian, nothing like Blue Moon lol) at the Yardhouse here.

You also might like Purple Haze. I need to find the one 55 mentioned ASAP

Where the heck is the emphasis on that, VIhen-shtef-HONor?

Edit: According to the Total Wine site, the store right down the street from me has got the Weihenstaphieniner... I know where I'm going after work
No offense intended but I didn't realize so many guys drank Blue Moon (by choice anyway), lol. I'm one who doesn't like a lot of fruity flavors in my beer also, so there is that.

Anyway, if you're a Blue Moon fan, Purple Haze is a GREAT call. I'd rank it over Shock Top... which, of course, should be ranked over Blue Moon. They also have a citrus flavored beer I can't remember the name of right now. I like Purple Haze better bc it doesn't taste as fruity but you may want to find out about the other one I'm talking about.

Repping Baltimore, if you can get your hands on any Heavy Seas, you won't be disappointed. The most popular (and probably universally considered the best) is Loose Cannon.

Generally speaking, I can throw down pretty much anything from Magic Hat (number 9 is the best), Evolution (Lucky 7 if you like a darker but smooth beer) or Flying Dog. And the previously mentioned Dogfish Head also has something for everyone... and especially for the IPA fans. Others worth considering are Live Free or Die and Laguanita's IPA or Lil Sumthin Sumthin.

I'm clearly WAY too late to this thread.

If any of you (ANYONE) finds themselves in Boston, you absolutely have to take a tour of the Sam Adams Brewery. I'm not really a Sam Adams fan but one of the best decisions I've ever made. 1) Free, 2) Great education on hops and brewing, 3) tour ends in their in house bar where you learn how to properly taste beer... while you proceed to go through about a pitcher's worth of different styles, 4) free party bus from the brewery to a local bar they've had a relationship with since the first batch was sold... 5) free.

My bad gents! Sometimes you gotta learn the hard way!

I did stop in Crystal Beverage today though, and picked up this Audible Ale by Redhook.

I kept hearing Dan Patrick mention it on his show, so I picked up a couple sixers. Lemme say, it is ****ing tremendous!
