First, thanks for referencing this thread Motown.

Second, I'm admittedly too lazy to read through this thread, but I am a seasonal beer drinker. Currently, with the warm months now here, I'm downing plenty of Sam Adams Summer Ale (also, Cherry wheat is actually good for a fruity kind of beer...lol...my wife LOVES it). As far as commercial beers go, Sam Adams is my favorite.

I tend to prefer a good brewery though, and am still searching for something in San Antonio (you would think with all the German influence in the area, I'd get some great brew)...I just missed Wurstfest when we moved here at the end of last year too...which sucks.

I know my favorite spot in VA Beach was Gordon Biersch (Loved the Marzan) but they don't have it here. Anyway, I'm cool with my Sammy Summer for now though.

My friend...if Miller Lite is your fav beer, and you don't like a dark rich beer like that Sam Adams in the pic or a nice Black and Tan you're not a beer drinker.

Miller Lite is alcoholic water... If you want we can hang out, I can drink a 12 of Yuenling Black and Tans, piss in a cup, and hand it off to you so that you can enjoy your Miller Lite. It's a win win...you get a slightly higher alcohol by volume AND you don't have to pay for anything.

Seriously though...go try some real bear.

Try Rolling Rock or something since you don't like dark beers.

wow..nice. A real beer huh? I'm sure Miller Lite sells more beer than Sam Adams and whatever Black and Tans is..I hope we're really not arguing about beer though.

LOL you really came in here expecting to join the conversation w/ Miller Lite being the beer you're touting?

            --------------------------------------------------------------

            Anyways...

who here likes Kirin, Asahi, or Sapporo? All Japanese beers.

When I was in Japan we use to drink the hell out of some Asahi and Sapporo.

So am I. Try some of these breweries:

                Leinenkugel's
                New Glarus
                Lakefront Brewery

Yes, because sales always equals quality.

P.S. Sam Adams happens to be the largest American owned brewery.

Personally, I usually don't drink that many beers in one sitting. I (and I think most of us in this thread are the same way) drink for taste and quality, not to get drunk (not saying you drink only to get drunk). But that is a heavier beer as well, and not really meant for drinking a lot at once. There are plenty of microbrews that are good "session" beers, though, beers that you can drink several of in a sitting.

We're just trying to help you out.

EDIT: I see you were just trying to stir the pot. Still, hopefully you take some of this advice.

I'm a big fan of Sapporo -- that's what I almost always drink with sushi and I like buying those big bottles. It's more hoppy than other beers I like, but I guess I just got used to the taste accompanying Asian food and now I love it. I like it better than Asahi and Kirin.

I like Tiger and Tsingtao also.

What about Italian beers? Love me some Moretti La Rossa.

                    Never had any Italian beers.

My favorite import is STELLA ARTOIS. Man that stuff is good, expensive, but good...

A friend of my wife's was getting married and her spouse is a big Budweiser Distributor here in the DC/Metro area. At their wedding they add an open bar, and Stella's were there - they just started distributing it after I talked to the groom's father.

Man I was raking on that open bar...free Stella's!!!!!!!!!!!

Just had a few bottles of Honey Moon (Blue Moon's summer seasonal) at a party. That is some really good stuff. Very smooth, sweet, and easy to drink.

Found a new summertime beer that I really liked over the weekend, Souther Tier Hop Sun. Perfect for the hop head in that hot summer sun! Souther Tier is relatively new in our market, but everything I've had from them has been awesome.

Other new notables this weekend, Great Divide's Hades Belgian Style and Claymore Scotish Ale. Hades is awesome and Claymore is equally great and not nearly as sweet as other scotish ales I've had which is a plus in my book.

Also revisited Lagunitas Hop Stoopid this weekend. IPA lovers have to check this one out.

Just found this thread after a long hiatus from OpSports. I will go through a read some more. Just thought I would weigh in.

If you like Southern Tier Hop Sun then you should definitely try Three Floyd's Gumballhead (if you can get it).

Had plenty of Gumballhead (awesome as well), but thanks for the recommendation anyway. Even though we're only a 3 hour drive away from the brewery, my market struggles to get 3 Floyd's stuff. Seem to get quite a few taps in town, but rarely available at stores for purchase.

Well, not anymore... but it used to be brewed near my home in Latrobe.

Personally, I'm not much of a beer drinker. Then again, I haven't had much "good" beer. I can't drink anything heavy, as it just doesn't sit well in my stomach and fills me up before I finish one. And I'm too cheap to spring for something better. I did see some 4-packs at the six-pack shop for like 18 bucks. Maybe I'll spring for one of those one day.
