Re: The first time you dunked

I dunked for the first time when I was 19 years old. When I was 16 I attempted to grab the rim with two hands and lost my grip and fell on my back. I was terrified to try to dunk after that. The day after my 19th birthday me and three and my boys were playing some midnight ball (something we would do every now and then when it was warm enough) at the a nearby court. My boys kept bothering me about dunking so I grew a pair that night and finally tried again. I dunked with ease, although I didn't hang on to the rim.

I got pretty sick in 07 and was unable to play sports for a while. My weight shot up to 215 lbs. (I'm 6'2 by the way) and I was never the same.

However, last summer I dunked for the first time in years. I was playing a pickup game and I had a really slow guy guarding me. I hit him with an in and out and came down the lane. It surprisingly was wide open. I was planning on going up for a layup and I unexpectedly got really high on the jump. I threw it down and GOD it felt good. I was so excited. But just like someone else in the thread said I just ran casually down court like it was something I do everyday, lol. Haven't really been able to do it since. I sure hope I can get it back. FYI, I'm 25 years old now.SimWorld NBA 2K19 Fictional Draft Classes

Re: The first time you dunked

As a 165 pounder, the possibility of breaking a rim or shattering a backboard is remote so bad rims do not scare me. However, leaping off one foot and trying to dunk with two hands while a defender looms in the vicinity can be kind of scary for me. As Sapp mentioned, if a player rises off that one foot and tries to hang with two hands but lets go, it can get real messy. I just make sure I'm absolutely fully committed to hanging on for the ride if I go up there like that.Comment

Re: The first time you dunked

Oh, totally forgot! One afternoon in the 90's, I went to a school close to my house, and after several tries managed to dunk again. But the dunk kinda bent the rim too much and that rim wasn't a flexible one, so it got broken. I ran away so nobody sees me... I didn't feel like paying for that rim... Thankfully there was no one there. My Specs:

Re: The first time you dunked

I could never dunk consistently, but I'm only 5'9". I can dunk any ball I could palm (volley ball, woman's bball) but could never get a good grip on an NBA ball. It's weird cause I can grab rim with ease, even off a vertical and with two hands.

First time I grabed rim, I was like 13 years old and about 5'4" or 5'5". The first time I threw down a volley ball was freshman year of HS when I was about 5'7".Comment

Re: The first time you dunked

I think I was 10 or 11 at the time. All I can remember is I had a bet with my cousin that I could beat him as far as consecutive dunks.

I won after 12 mainly due to him puking after his 11th.
Good thing is we found out then he was alergic to milk. Either way I had 12 Oreos gone in like 2 1/2 minutes.Joshua:

Re: The first time you dunked

It's weird but the easiest way for me to dunk is to throw the ball up and let it bounce high once. I jump & catch it and throw down with 2 hands. I dunk like a grandma with 1 hand...Comment
