You could try a pre-work supp like No-xplode or superpump250. They are a bit expensive but make you feel like you could run through a brick wall.

Green tea is high in caffeine or you can just take a caffeine tablet if coffee is a no go. I hate black coffee so i just have a coffee with a little bit of milk and a few splenda's or a sugar free red bull if I'm feeling sluggish.

You don't really 'need' any of these things though, I just find they can help occasionally when I'm feeling lazy.

Perhaps i'll try out some caffeine tablets before the workout. I don't think i'll particularly care for the taste of coffee before a workout.

Huh, Caffeine before the workout seems like a good idea. I'll make sure to try that.

Almost done with week 2, tomorrow is a double, Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs. I'm a bit anxious for that one.

My only other concern is that I'm going to be doing this within a half hour from when I wake up. Would it be benificiary for me to get something to eat, like a banana, to go along with the caffeine? I don't want to hit a wall due to a lack of "fuel".

            Re: Insanity

I just finished week 6...or the 1st week of month two.

I was out of shape and was really sore the first week of Insanity...then by week 4 was really feeling good about myself. The recovery week was a piece of cake.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, could have prepared me for month two. I have to go straight to the shower after the workout because it looks like I walked through a rain storm, then drink my own recovery shake I make, then lay around for a bit.

I'm down from 192 to 182 though and have lost 1.5" off my waist without losing any noticeable size in my arms/chest. I'm not ripped by any means but I can see slight differences starting to take place. If anything I'm proud that I'm still chugging along.

Question to you Insanity vets. On the days where you have a normal workout followed by an ab workout, am I supposed to do them right after one another? Just did Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs, respectively. I was so exhausted after Pure Cardio that I feel like I did not get a great abdomen workout afterward. If anything, it feels like my form was off and I got more of an arm workout.

I do it in the mornings and I just have whey & water and I'm fine. But I'm an intermittent-faster so it fits in with my diet anyway.

Doing Insanity in the morning always leads to a great day IMO. You just feel good the rest of the day and I always have tons of energy.

Good to hear. I too am doing intermittent fasting, so hopefully this doesn't throw a monkey wrench into that. I want to make sure I can get enough food into me, so if I need to go to a more traditional diet for the 60 days, IF is so easy that I feel I could jump right back into it.

I'll see how I do with just a caffeine pill and water. If necessary, i've still got some Body Fortress whey laying around, so I may throw a scoop into the water about 30 minutes before the workout, to go along with the caffeine pill.

I'm no vet but I did them back to back. The only difference was I skipped the warmup for the ab workout.

Starting this up tomorrow after I wake up in the afternoon (overnight shifts). Can't wait to embarrass myself doing the fit test!

I work nights. I wake up around 4 PM, eat, then Insanity.

Down 12 pounds now in almost 7 weeks. I didn't have a lot to lose but I'm liking the changes.

                            Re: Insanity

Yikes, first day (fit test) was pretty rough. I got through only about 5 of the 8 exercises and got really nautious, and it wound up lasting for close to an hour. I'll admit, i'm not in the best shape, as i've been taking a break from running for a few weeks, as my runner's knee was acting up. My knee wasn't a problem at all doing the fit test, but I felt miserable. Wound up sitting with my head between my legs for a while.

I had a couple cups of water before starting along with my caffeine pill, and then sipped water throughout the test, but I didn't have anything to eat. Could this have been my problem? I have no idea if I bonked either, but my muscles were sore enough to the point that I could hardly finish any of the exercises at the end.

I'm thinking maybe a banana about 30 minutes before isn't the worst idea, if it helps me get through the workout. I don't know if I just ran out of fuel, or if I pushed too hard today.

You may perform better with the banana or maybe it's just really hard and it wouldn't have mattered because the workout's kick your ***.

I have done lots of running and lots of weight lifting but these type of workouts really do push your limits in different ways imo.

Either way good job getting started, keep pressing play!

                                Re: Insanity

I don't think I had done cardio in 2 years prior to my day one fit test. I worked out regularly but nothing prepped me for it. I remember thinking beforehand that I should do a workout afterwords because just doing the fit test would be too easy...ya not so much.

As for food if I took a caffeine pill pre-workout I might explode. I eat 1 cup of protein cereal with a 1/2 cup of non-fat milk prior to my workout, and drink 2 glasses of water. Then during the workout I just sip from my water and pray it will all be over soon.

I'm done with week six tomorrow. I was expecting another Max workout but when I look at the calender it says "Core Cardio and Balance" from the recovery week. Sweet goodness Shaun T must know I'm hurting.
